From what I understand, humans are like 300,000 years old. So if we tried to look at earth from that far away humans wouldn’t exist. And at some point life gets whipped to plants and small creatures. Can we detect those things from that far away?

@neiltyson We say we haven’t found life on other planets; but, aren’t the planets in the next solar system so far away that we are seeing them millions of years in the past? How does this work?
