I have some exciting news I have been meaning to share on here. I recently accepted the Sang Kee Kim Postdoctoral Fellowship in International Affairs of East and Southeast Asia at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center. @HarvardWCFIA

@hilderestad Plan to spend roughly a day orienting yourself to the byzantine filing structures. Once you figure out how the place is organized, you can get a lot out of it, but it takes awhile to understand how to look for things. It can be discouraging if you don't know to expect that.

Dear academics who have used the National Archives in College Park! A Norwegian MA student is headed there to research U.S. policy toward Norway during WWII. She's never been, and is wondering about how to get the most out of her research trip - any inside tips?

@DexterFergie These have been my staples for teaching the US foreign relations survey for my whole career (and were also what was used to teach me 30 years ago for my BA). Unfortunately they haven't been updated in 15 years, so they're getting dated, but still the best thing out there, IMO.

@DexterFergie There's a good condensation of the argument of Kristin Hoganson's second book in one of the chapters of Vol. 1 of Major Problems in American Foreign Relations.

@madiaz2 Martin Sherwin's first book, A World Destroyed, is a classic. So is Richard Rhodes, The Making of the Atomic Bomb. J. Samuel Walker, Prompt and Utter Destruction, is a good survey of the various debates about the bomb.
