My testimony:
I was a drug addict and alcoholic for 20 years. I started at a very young age because I always felt worthless inside, but when I tried drugs, at first, it filled all the emptiness. I felt that I had finally found the solution.
Of course, it turned me into a miserable human being. Over the course of those 20 years, I was arrested in 5 states and extradited back to Texas twice. I was last arrested in Colorado for a warrant I had in Texas. I grew up in a Christian home, so I knew about God but had never surrendered my life.
I remember sitting in that jail cell and coming to the point where I said, "God, I'm done!" I used to pray to Him when I was looking for a shorter sentence or peace in a situation, but this time was different. I asked Him for nothing other than forgiveness. "God, I'm here for whatever you are asking me to do."
I put my hand to the plow and never looked back. I was extradited back to Texas and went to prison, but He never let go of me, and I never let go of Him.
I paroled out to a homeless shelter with nothing other than the $50 check they give you, but I've never gone a day without. I've seen His providing hand in my life over the last 13 years, and He has done things that I could have never imagined. He took an uneducated drug addict and flipped my world around. I even have the honor of going back into the jails and prisons to help others.
All glory to Him!
