Happy Birthday to the #SettleCarlisle Line, 30 years to the day since it was saved from closure! It was a magnificent joint effort by local councils, voluntary groups and others, and @foscl's current President Michael Portillo had just a bit to do with it!

Morning! We are here to help. A reminder that there are urgent repairs to the railway between Skipton and Carlisle meaning trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. There is also theft of signalling cables between Shildon and Bishop Auckland meaning the line is blocked. We also have ongoing engineering improvement works on some lines. Buses will replace late night / early morning trains between Blackburn / Rose Grove and Colne / Clitheroe from Monday 23 to Friday 27 February. Buses will also replace trains between Corkickle and Whitehaven until further notice. Nunthorpe level crossing renewal: Buses replace trains between Middlesbrough and Whitby from Monday 23 to Friday 27 February. Last Saturday we had 34 people on the walk which is awesome given the rotten weather forecast and sodden terrain. FoSCL walkers are tough! Mud glorious mud! We happily slid and sloshed our way through the mud as we walked from Gargrave out to Coniston Cold and back.
