Not sure why this is blowing up all of a sudden, but if you actually read the quote, Isayama's "regret" is that he was too attached to Eren's character to portray him as a completely unsympathetic villain. In other words, he regrets that the ending he wrote went too EASY on Eren.

Today @fourthcastYT and I finished recording the final episode of AoT. We recorded the first episode over 2.5 years ago. It feels like the end of a journey. Unfortunately it'll take me 3+ months to edit it. But just having everything recorded is a huge relief.
