@parlagreco_9 @JSP_73 @FilLettieri Yup! Just like the Professional Learning Cycle - plan, act, observe, reflect
English

@JSP_73 @FilLettieri You raise a great point about being willing to adjust. This would be an integral part of Setting Directions for the next school year and goal setting.
English

@FilLettieri Student learning/achievement can be measured using standardized test results, report card marks/grades, high school course selections, etc. Also important might be the assessment of student and staff perceptions on topics like inclusivity and discrimination. #PQP2 @FilLettieri

@Schebenc @FilLettieri Yes Christina, our own self-reflections on our own biases is one of those "uncomfortable" steps that need to be taken.
English

@FilLettieri We need to reflect on our biases and perspectives to determine how they are influencing what we are doing in the classroom and school. #PQP2 @FilLettieri

How can we lessen dominant perspectives in our curriculum so that contributions from different backgrounds can be better understood and integrated into learning?#PQP2
English

@Schebenc @FilLettieri Yes! Highlight the contributions of different backgrounds - and those students right in front of us usually provide the best contributions.
English

@FilLettieri Go beyond the textbooks and Intentionally structure learning opportunities that highlight the contributions of different backgrounds, tap into the experiences of the students, #PQP2 @FilLettieri
English

@FilLettieri We can use a “strong sense of intentionality” in our instruction in the classroom. It takes a lot of effort to “go against the tide”, so to speak, and dominant perspectives in a classroom or a community or a society don't alter their course on their own. #PQP2 @FilLettieri

@LindaRomani @FilLettieri Linda 😀 you are going to town with these images!!! Great prep !
English

Great conversations! Now our next question:
How do we work with our communities to help everyone appreciate the importance of culturally responsive teaching? #PQP2 @FilLettieri
English

@FilLettieri Culturally responsive pedagogy is incorporated into school mission Statement.
Intentional actions that brings it to the forefront at school initiatives like staff PDs and parent engagement sessions Simple outward things like signs and symbols on school walls around the school.
English

@FilLettieri #PQP2 @FilLettieri The first thing we do is “leave the door open” to the differences that exist in each of us. Next, we encourage curiosity and learning about the “differences”.
English

@parlagreco_9 @Schebenc @FilLettieri Sometimes the best lesson plan is the one that the "learners" bring to the table.
English

@Schebenc @FilLettieri Yes! It means throwing a lesson plan out the window and letting student knowledge guide the learning! #PQP2
English

What does a classroom look like, sound like and feel like when it is inclusive and when instruction is responsive to the full range of student diversity? #PQP2
English

@LindaRomani @FilLettieri "excited to see someone who looks like them in the story" -- well said!!
English

@FilLettieri #PQP2 @FilLitteiri A classroom that is inclusive and responsive to different student’s diversities will at times feel uncomfortable, as students and educators navigate through those initial feelings of discomfort.
