Decarbonizing our power system demands that the grid of the future be both #flexible and #customercentric. EnergyHub's @fraderT and @SiemensInfra discuss in the latest episode of the <de>coding the future of energy podcast: bit.ly/3UUepxk

Great to sit down with @Energy4Chris and @johanoberg1 of Insider's Guide to Energy to talk about how EnergyHub is helping utilities and their customers accelerate toward a decarbonized future.

In the months ahead, more cases won’t correlate to more deaths in the same way as earlier in the pandemic. This graph from the UK shows why. Age matters—a lot. 8/ twitter.com/abuttenheim/st…

@James_McGinniss @EltaKo7 The only difference is that it's (presumably) a consistent, flat load with high availability, so the capacity factor is better. But it's still demand response. You are right: definitely not a battery. Negative load. They are different.
English

@EltaKo7 Not sure why speed of response or volume matter. It’s great it can do this, but how is that any more a battery than, say, curtailed HVAC load?

For perspective on how important immigration law is to US innovation economy: only 29% of US PhD grads in elec engineering are citizens / perm residents. So many potential deeptech entrepreneurs can't enter the game due to poor policy. Admire @doug_rand's relentless work on this.

President Biden's immigration bill includes not only a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, smart border policies, & humane treatment of refugees—it also promises major & long-overdue improvements to our skills-based immigration system... 1/ cnbc.com/2021/02/18/imm…

This morning a neighbor reported that the Second Avenue bike lane & “pork chop,” located at one of NYC’s most dangerous corridors (near the Queensboro Bridge) was completely obstructed with snow.
@PatrickForNYC and I grabbed our shovels & did the work *our City* should be doing.

Lots of questions about the Covid-19 vaccines -- here are some of the more common ones, with my answers. Directed at clinicians, but probably something here for all. Any that we missed?

@jjacobs22 @duncancampbell The problem is you're competing against some of the most profitable companies in history, in a market where talent is scarce. It's a real market but one with enormous distortion from a few giant employers.
English

@duncancampbell Thanks, I’ve heard this one too.
Hopefully this will alleviate over time as more, better funded, and stronger climate cos continue to emerge. If you have any ideas for how to accelerate, I’m all ears!
