First off, according Texas law the knife he carried was legal. MOST Ppl in Texas carry weapons as far as pocket knives and even guns. He had every right to carry a pocket knife in his bag if he so chose. Secondly, The tent was a PUBLIC tent. And he was invited to come under the tent by someone else due to the weather. Thirdly, he was bothered and physically assaulted unprovoked by TWO boys that were well over his size. I don't understand how self defense laws work in America but one thing I keep hearing from Karmelo's defense narrative is that Austin Metcalf pushed him and therefore he stabbed him in self defense. Let's assume that's true. Hell, let's assume he was pushed so hard he fell backwards to the ground. Is he then justified on grounds of self defense to stab Metcalf to death under self defense laws?
