This is exactly what MiCA was going to trigger. Once Binance loses access or faces restrictions in the EU, compliant platforms will compete for user migration. Coinbase and OKX are the obvious global players, but local regulated rails like Safello in Sweden may also become more important. The next battle is not only fees — it is regulatory access, liquidity, and trust.

As of July 1st, crypto exchanges need a MiCA license to serve EU customers. Safello is licensed with Sweden's Finansinspektionen. Move your funds today — to the safest fellow in crypto! safello.com/appredirect

The one takeaway from my time in Bitcoin is that its success was never the technological innovation alone. Yes, solving the Byzantium Generals problem was the foundation, but to get Bitcoin to reach the levels of adoption we see today required more. And much of it was capital and politics; hard fought battles between fractions with opposing interest and ideals. At the heart of the biggest upset in Bitcoin was the scaling debate, where one proposal was led by @DCGco with the New York agreement. History rhymes with $TAO as we see a similar situation play out between DCGs subsidiary @YumaGroup and @const_reborn around Root Reborn. In Bitcoin’s case this led to many forks, like bitcoin-cash:native and it introduced Bitcoin maximalism - a toxic philosophy that did more harm than good. Many of the actual Bitcoin OGs didn’t want anything to do with it and gravitated to the more harmonious and innovate ecosystem Ethereum as a result. Its founder @VitalikButerin was well versed in the political and economic implications of the underlying technology. It’s why ethereum:native is still the second largest market cap today and why it serves as the backbone or at least foundational catalyst for DeFI, ICOs and the stablecoin market. That is not to say that absolutist views can’t thrive. They can, otherwise the flippening would’ve happened. It didn’t, and Bitcoin is still #1. But Bitcoin had a first mover advantage with a mythical founder. In $TAO’s case I think the posturing of “for the people, by the people, of the people, but the people are retarded” (we’ve all seen the clip) by @const_reborn is putting fuel to the fire in a way that I’ve seen play out before.

Welcoming @WSquires of @MacrocosmosAI to the Exploit speaker lineup. This is the man who walked into the Louvre with his team two weeks ago and casually announced Orion - a 100B parameter model trained on distributed compute. The room hasn't fully recovered. And we hear they've got even bigger news to drop in Montreal...🔥

This echoes my sentiment on pace of change and predictability for institutional investors. I understand and appreciate the notion of making big changes now before takeoff, but it creates uncertainty while introducing increased complexity that may have unforeseen ripple effects. In a way that speaks to the level of maturity of the ecosystem - yay! My expressed concern at @proofoftalk to @const_reborn was that root yield disappearing entirely makes the entry point of $TAO less attractive while forcing direct investments into subnets whereas many investors aren’t ready for that yet. The solution proposed is a good attempt to get the best of both worlds, but it turns an index-like token more into a token with concentrated subnet bets. Personally I like the different stategies offered by the likes of @mentatminds and can see demand for structured products along the same lines in time when TAO is at 10x market cap, but making it the default now for root staking muddies the water a bit. What is the solution? Perhaps equal buys across all subnets preserves the subnet index narrative. Perhaps not touching anything is best. Generally I’d favor simplicity/reducing complexity. Either way I agree that wider community input as proposed by @YumaGroup is healthier, even if it feels slower. Happy midsummer 🕺
Yuma@YumaGroup

The following analysis is a byproduct of lack of process within the ecosystem that leaves business builders limited notice or ability to properly plan, assess risk, and execute. We are responding rapidly to the code we’ve seen thus far, in the forum where we see it being discussed, as it is unclear what the proposed release timelines are for the Root Reborn update. More than anything, we’d like to see a reliable, structured process for chain updates that includes time for industry feedback and relevant business planning.

I had previously written off "decentralized AI" as being silly, but now think there's maybe a 20% chance that these two technologies intersect in an interesting way. Also... said it before, but we're about to run back blockspace economics almost 1:1 it's wild.
