@SebAaltonen @MissQuickstep Agreed, but this slow and steady growth has happened (and could continue to happen) without the massive growth on available compute that nvidias current profits depend on. I’m unsure if this power+hw hungry mode is sustainable, but AI in general is surely not going away.

@MissQuickstep Even if this particular spike in AI interest is a bubble, AI algorithms will live on an continue to improve. They have already been proved highly useful in production over multiple years. Slower growth is still growth.

@FlohOfWoe @jernejv The other side of the coin is cluttering all business logic to handle rare error cases. There was a C++ proposal (by Herb Sutter I think?) to do statically typed exceptions, essentially automating the error unions on each level so you can deal with it only at the right one.

TotK is a good game by itself (many plotholes needing explaining). As a sequel it's jarring, and as a Zelda game it makes less and less sense. If there is DLC, hopefully details are ironed out.

TorK can't decide if it wants to be a sequel to BotW or not. Like it wants to use almost everything from the over world, enemies, to even music, but for some reason we can barely get acknowledgement/nods to our past journey. Sidon was the true callback that carried 'cuz of Mipha.

The main reason why I am not really interested about the current HW ray-tracing is that the APIs assume that SIMD hardware can run virtual function call per lane. Which is not true. End result is ~10% GPU ALU utilization. Most of the GPU is idling.

People ask me why I am not doing AAA high end graphics anymore. I find mobile graphics more motivating today. I have to write very well optimized code to reach our goals and my choices have high impact on visual output and frame rate.

I had a similar issue when making a 2D sidescrolling racing game when going fast, it's hard to react to things ahead because you can't see very far, so I thought, maybe I'll just zoom out the camera based on speed? but that completely cancelled out the *feeling* of going fast
