I saw many great fursuits at #Anthrocon this year, but I was the most surprised by this Zoid-themed one! His friend even had a Zoids badge! I was a huge fan of this series when I was a teen.
These belong to Koda and @fraxul

@AyrtonGsZ SoC is Nvidia Jetson AGX Xavier.
RPi's GPU and ISP (camera HW) just don't have the throughput for this. RPi has very limited sensor selection -- can't modify their drivers or write your own. Not enough CSI lanes; I need 16 lanes across 4 ports.
English

@AyrtonGsZ Prototype with all major components is 2.7kg right now. Power is from an external USB-C PD power bank, 60w (20v 3a) profile minimum. Vision system pulls ~45w, eye displays will add another 10-20w. A common 100Wh power bank will run it for ~90min. Network for debugging only.

@LorneChrones I'm doing exhaust out the mouth for the heatsink -- fan blows down, a deflector in the roof of the mouth pushes the air forward. Going to add intake vents in the cheeks, then either intake fans in the cheeks or an exhaust fan in back of mouth for wearer comfort.
English

@fraxul Absolutely fantastic. Shadow Fox inspired head? >:D
Is the airflow plan for this both through the roof of the mouth for the fan/heatsink and over the wearer's head in parallel with direct back of the mouth airflow for the wearer?
English

@fraxul Brother in christ, are you using a gutted Index ?!
English

@Faijanopsi The fan in the nose draws air from around the HMD and pushes it down through the fin stack to cool the Jetson. A louvered grille in the roof of the mouth directs the exhaust forward and out. Doesn't take much airflow; the fin stack is very oversized for the TDP (~40w).
English

@Synthocado I run speed-tuned slicer profiles for prototyping. Parts are still dimensionally accurate enough, but the surface finish suffers.
Final parts use slower, quality-tuned profiles. The prints take significantly longer, but it saves a lot of time on paint prep work.

@Devonshiree1 I made that avatar! It's just a recolor of the model I made for my fursona. So "yes, but indirectly".
This'll be done up in the Shadow Fox color scheme.
English

@fraxul Wow, is this going to be a fursuit based on the VRChat robot fox avatar? With a flame thrower. That's going to be sooo awesome!
English

@dergnz @SaphireLattice The electronics in there are for indirect vision / reality reprojection. Jetson AGX Xavier, 4x 1920x1080@90fps cameras (2 stereo pairs), Luxonis DepthAI VPUs for stereo processing, and a gutted Lenovo Explorer for output. More details in this thread: x.com/fraxul/status/…

Fursuit camera update: multi-view stereo is working now, although the view-to-view offset calibration still needs work. (Screenshot is from the desktop remote debugging tool because I don't have a good way to screenshot the on-device 3d view)
English

@fraxul @SaphireLattice Ohh neat! Are you going to use it as VR headset or also add cameras and reproject reality and stuff?
