As a "Reagan Communist" in the USSR, my affinity continued with the GOP as stronger on the freedom agenda & national defense, & I was repulsed by the invasive (and actual socialist) leanings of many Dems. That last is still true, but the GOP of Trump has no virtues left.

@frdm_lover @IlyaSomin I didn’t vote for Clinton. But his presidency was more fiscally sound than any Republican in the last 60 years. I say that as a conservative.

Reagan famously said he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, they left him. I feel much the same way about the Trump-era GOP. As a libertarian, I was never a down-the-line Republican (they were too socially conservative and overly tolerant of high govt spending). But I did vote for them as the lesser evil in most pre-2016 elections. Over the last decade, that’s no longer true.

No one doubts that Kushner was the subject of this intercepted NSA communication. No one doubts Tulsi Gabbard sat on it for over 6 months. Think that might introduce a conflict of interest or two? Make him a little less tough on the “counterparties” who might also be prospects to open new accounts? That’s to say nothing of the fact that he was explicitly mentioned in the NSA intercept (of a discussion by foreign intelligence officials) that led to a whistleblower complaint against Tulsi Gabbard last year - and might well be a full blown asset for a foreign government. Every citizen has an obligation to be skeptical of our country’s leadership. To hold them accountable. Kushner’s involvement in this administration is not good.
