Speaker Johnson has a bill at his desk to fund TSA right now. Every single Senator, Republican and Democrat, agreed to pass it. But he's holding it up to play political games with a resolution he knows is dead on arrival in the Senate. It's just ridiculous, and Americans deserve better.

The long lines at airports now falls squarely on Speaker Johnson's shoulders. The Senate unanimously passed a bill to fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard. But Speaker Johnson is refusing to let the House vote on it. If you miss your flight, remember, this shutdown is on him.

@zombyboy @KenGardner11 Thank you for clarifying. Fortunately, in the wee hours of the morning, the Senate finally passed the DHS minus ICE funding bill and sent it to the House. Hopefully the House won't be idiots, but with Johnson in charge, who knows.

I hate to be that guy, but under what actual legal authority can Trump allocate money to the TSA that has not been specifically appropriated by Congress? Is it not the same problem as Biden's attempt to cancel student loans?

The whole “we’re losing the young men” argument is just the same old seeker-sensitive argument that is being repackaged. You don’t compromise the gospel because you fear it’ll turn people away. Just be faithful to Christ and preach his word.

The difference is, they chose people that were professionally qualified/experienced. Trump’s criteria is - due the have a law degree and do they look good in front of a camera. Republicans want to change the law so AG Bondi can unilaterally appoint unqualified, sycophantic temporary U.S. Attorneys (recurrently and indefinitely!) to do Trump's lawless, political bidding—people like Alina Habba, who brought trumped-up charges against a Democratic congresswoman, or Lindsey Halligan, whose bogus case against Comey was thrown out after judges determined that her appointment was unlawful. RM @RepRaskin suggested they make their bad bill a little better: any temporary U.S. Attorney tapped by the AG must have some relevant professional experience and belong to the state bar. Even that modest standard was too much for Republicans to stomach as they seek to give Trump free rein to bring sham charges against anyone everywhere.
