Being coloured has always been complicated , but it’s not a distinct ethnic phenotype in of itself. It’s a self identifier . I might be wrong

There isn’t an ethnic phenotype for coloured, but the years of apartheid created a distinct cultural phenotype. Hence coloured isn’t a race, but culture.
