MEDIA RELEASE PUBLIC ALERT ON THE RECALL OF MEGLUMINE AMIDOTRIZOATE/ SODIUM AMIDOTRIZOATE 0.3 / 0.6 / 0.76 G/ML UROGRAFIN 60% (SOLUTION FOR INJECTION) Embargo: Immediate Release Harare, 24 March 2026 - The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe wishes to inform healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical stakeholders, and members of the public of a voluntary product recall concerning Meglumine Amidotrizoate / Sodium Amidotrizoate 0.3 / 0.6 / 0.76 g/mL (Urografin 60%) Solution for Injection, a contrast agent used in X-ray and diagnostic imaging procedures. This action follows a critical communication from Bayer Pty Ltd (South Africa), indicating that all batches manufactured between October 2020 and March 2025 are affected. The recall has been initiated after confirmatory testing detected an impurity, N-Nitroso-Meglumine (NO-Meglumine), at levels exceeding newly established safety thresholds. Recent scientific studies have shown that this impurity is genotoxic and potentially carcinogenic, prompting a significant reduction in the acceptable daily intake limit to protect patient safety. The Authority confirms that Urografin 60% was registered in Zimbabwe in 2018. However, there is no record of its importation into the country between 2020 and 2026. Despite this, there remains a potential risk that the product may have entered the local market through unauthorized or illegal channels. Healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and wholesalers are urged to remain vigilant and ensure that this product is not in circulation or use. Members of the public and healthcare professionals who encounter Urografin 60% are strongly advised to refrain from using or administering the product. Any suspected presence of the product should be immediately reported to the Authority or a qualified healthcare provider. The MCAZ will intensify market surveillance activities, including inspections and public awareness initiatives, to prevent the circulation of this potentially harmful product. The Authority remains committed to safeguarding public and animal health by ensuring that all medicines in Zimbabwe meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficacy. Accountability matters. We have received this letter from the Zimbabwe Independent regarding their recent story on ZBC licence fees. They have acknowledged that the claims were unverified and were not based on accurate information, and have issued an unequivocal apology to His Excellency. Acknowledging when errors have been made is the correct thing. We move on.

#ChivayoInStateHouseMeetingScandal #BarredFromSeeingNigerianBillionaire Prominent and flamboyant ex-convict tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo gatecrashed State House in Harare yesterday in a desperate bid to attend the meeting between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote to sign a US$1 billion investment deal, but was barred from the event. The incident left Mnangagwa's security and protocol teams fretting, and those attending the event bewildered. Chivayo had lied to his hangers-on that he was going to meet Dangote to sign a mega deal and officials were waiting for him at State House. His social media hacks started posting false stories about the issue, with the narrative that he had an appointment with Mnangagwa and Dangote. Chivayo used that false claim to worm his way into State House to try to gatecrash the meeting for a photo opportunity as there was no business deal between him and Dangote. Before that, Chivayo had begged state officials and organisers to attend the event, but was rebuffed. Apart from Mnangagwa and Dangote, the meeting was attended by cabinet ministers, government officials and business executives. Chivayo, who has expressed public ambitions to be a billionaire and always hobnobs with Presidents in Africa and rich people whenever he gets a chance, stormed State House - uninvited - and tried to gatecrash the meeting, but was stopped dead in his tracks by Mnangagwa's aides, including his son Sean, who is part of the close security unit, and turned away. "It was drama; a spectacle. Chivayo was not invited to the meeting. He had spent some time trying to convince the President's protocol and security teams that he should be allowed to attend the Dangote meeting. He begged them for days, but all in vain. He badly wanted to see Dangote and pitch his quick-buck schemes, but, as usual, he had also seen a big photo opportunity for himself. So he contrived to deceive or scam his hangers-on and state officials. All he wanted was to get a photo with Dangote to enhance his status and in the process scam people that he is signing deals with the richest man in Africa, wealthiest black person in the world. Chivayo likes Dangote, but for his own interests. Yes, he truly admires him, but the difference is that one is a genuine businessman, while the other is a tenderpreneur. Their business models, values and ambitions are so different, and not aligned at all. One is building generational wealth, while the other one is looking for tenders, fame and flamboyance for temporary gratification," a senior government official who attended the meeting told The NewsHawks. "Chivayo's plan this time failed. He had plotted this after failing to get invited to the meeting. Under false pretences, he then negotiated his way at the gate into State House, which is a security breach I'm told, and tried to force his way into the meeting, but he was stopped. He was told it was not possible to attend because he was not invited. His attempt to name-drop the President was promptly and curtly rejected. He was told to go away, so he was embarrassed and humiliated." Journalists covering the event say they saw Chivayo walking towards State House offices after parking his car. "I saw him walking from his car coming to State House offices where we were, carrying a brown envelope and thought he had been invited last minute, but it soon became clear he was trying to gatecrash the meeting. This reminds me of the way he manoeuvred to take a photo with Kenyan President William Ruto at Trade Fair in Bulawayo last year. Out of that deft move, he has now become Ruto's friend and has got business opportunities in Kenya. That is his business model - infleunce-peddling; hence he has met many Presidents in the region, among them those from Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Nigeria and Malawi, among others. But this time it failed. It was really embarrassing. After the drama, he walked away with his tail between his legs."

•He claimed his house was destroyed by an incendiary device. •He claimed a meeting venue was destroyed by another incendiary device. •He has now been allegedly found in possession of explosive material. You do the maths #ChembereYoshaikaBereRorutsaMvi

🔸Good day VP @wicknellchivayo, Do you recall your post in December 2014 where you stated that you would take any appointment from the president so long as it was in the Presidium? Do you remember saying that you could be the Vice President or National Chairman of @ZANUPF_Official? Why are you now saying you have never held such ambitions? We need new leaders.🇿🇼

I have seen this attached comment all day on social media, that is why we need to continuously read after school. An upside-down flag is used as a distress signal, indicating extreme danger or an emergency in a country. It is also used as a form of protest or dissent against a government or President. When you see an inverted national flag, remember that it is a recognised distress signal or political resistance.
Dr.K@DrK3819

Zimbabweans, have you noticed that despite the military gear, the flag is facing downwards? What a powerful symbol! And then he plays “Nzira Dzemasoja?”

1. This is how Zimbabwean government chief spokesman Nick Mangwana is not only an incompetent propagandist, but also a liar who makes claims that can easily be verified. In November 2023, he claimed that his government had bought “a set of advanced radiotherapy ‘cancer treatment’ machines.” Today, he has come back with another lie, forgetting his previous falsehood. He now says his government is going to buy radiotherapy machines for cancer treatment — the same claim he made in November 2023, sixteen months ago. Zimbabwe has not had a single working radiotherapy machine for cancer treatment in three years. Thousands of Zimbabweans have died from treatable cancer because of this. You can’t run a government on lies and cheap childish propaganda, it is embarrassing in this modern age of internet and social media. Take a listen to the video on tweet 2.
