Seems like I struck a nerve with the Boomers. I’ve been called a Marxist and told how fast the money runs out… 1. I’m so right-wing you have no idea. 2. The purpose of generating wealth and building a business is to do what you want and have great relationships with family and friends. 3. If Boomers want to stare at cable news all day, check their Fidelity accounts at 4 p.m., while their kids rent, pay $1,800/month for daycare, and their grandkids have no backyard—that’s cool. 😎 Or you can improve your grandkids’ quality of life while you’re still alive: spend more time with them, maybe babysit, watch the kids a few times a week. Grandkids can have a dog, a yard, move to the suburbs, fund a 529 plan for college. I had great relationships with my grandparents. They flew in from out of town 2–3 times a year. My parents never visit. They say it’s too expensive, but I’m expected to take off work, fly a family of 4, board the pets, etc. My kids’ birthday and Christmas gifts are smaller than what I got from my grandparents. My parents have way more money saved up. In my circle of friends, it’s the same story for 90%.

@freedomNov5 @KurtSupeCPA You said, “every boomer.” Really? Every single boomer holds on to their money? Making such an over reaching defamatory statement reveals you are an ultracrepadarian. Good grief, wise up!

Couple comes in for their annual review. $2.8 million. Well invested. Solid Pension. Completely on track. I ask the question I ask everyone. "How is your daughter doing?" Mom's face changed first. Their daughter is 39. Hasn't asked for anything. Never complained. But she's been in the same apartment for six years. Daycare alone is $1,800 a month. Down payment feels impossible. Dad said "we always figured she'd get it eventually." I pulled up a simple chart. Statistically they live to 88. She inherits at 56. Maybe 60. At 60 her own retirement is eight years away. The money that could change everything at 39 arrives when her finish line is already close. Neither of them had ever seen it framed that way. The annual gift exclusion is $19,000 per parent per child. They can move $38,000 a year to her. No gift tax. No estate implications. Over ten years that's $380,000 transferred while they're healthy enough to watch it matter. Dad looked at his wife. "Why are we waiting?" Most families leave everything at death because nobody showed them the math of giving it while they're alive.

Seems like I struck a nerve with the Boomers. I’ve been called a Marxist and told how fast the money runs out, fixed income this… I’m selfish, etc. A whole lot of “My, my, my”… How about “your grandkids”? The OP’s clients have pensions, so they will have income for the rest of their lives. They probably have health care included, but they definitely have Medicare. They likely own 100% of their house. Boomers don’t want to let go of Money or power. Look at congress..these people are 75 yrs old. 1. I’m so right-wing you have no idea. 2. The purpose of wealth generation and building a business is to be able to do what you want and have great relationships with family and friends. 3. If Boomer grandparents want to stare at cable news all day and check their Fidelity accounts at 4 p.m. each day while their kids are renting, paying $1,800/month for daycare, and their grandkids have no backyard—that’s cool. 😎 Or you can improve the quality of life of your grandkids while you’re still alive. Every Boomer parent and grandparent hold onto their money and don’t even think about passing it down to their kids or grandkids when it could actually do some good or improve their relationship with their children. The fact that these grandparents have $3m in investments and pension income, while their daughter and grandkid are renting and paying $1800/m for daycare is insane. 1. They could help watch the kids instead of daycare. Better for the family and relationships 2. The Finacial help should have come sooner

If I were to start a private school, it would be a boys-only institution. All teachers would be male. Most would come from military backgrounds, with preference given to those with special forces experience. The structure would prioritize physical and practical development. Each morning would begin with physical training. Boxing. Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Obstacle courses. Firearms training. There would also be a strong emphasis on building. Shop classes. Hands-on work. The ability to construct something real. Even for someone who becomes an IT engineer, knowing how to build a chair matters. Real-world construction develops thinking. It trains problem-solving in a way abstract learning does not. Academic instruction would be concentrated. No more than three hours per day at a desk. That is sufficient to meet curriculum requirements and maintain academic competence. The rest of the day would be spent developing strength, discipline, and practical skill.

Today, it's crazy to think that boxing used to be in the school curriculum. London, 1930s ⏳️

You can’t build a building in NYC…. You can’t rehab a building in NYC… But since you peasants are broke, rent out your basement or spare bedroom to a stranger to pay for food. And if you discriminate based on: race, religion, ability to pay, sexual Orientation, mental health or anything else Fat Ass Tish James will shame you, sue you and prosecute you.

If you own a home with a basement, attic, or backyard, chances are you’ve thought about using it to earn a little extra income or as space for a loved one. We want to make it as easy (and affordable) as possible for you to do that. NYC recently legalized ADUs — but for too many New Yorkers, they’re still tied up in bureaucracy and expense. We're fixing that. Our new toolkit at nyc.gov/aduforyou includes preapproved building plans and a financing calculator so you can get right to building. If we want New York to remain a city for everyone, we have to make it easier for homeowners to stay here. ADU for You will do just that.

Hard pass on this. Rec Little league in most instances is 2 or 3 games a week with no practices. 3 idiot dads who couldn’t make HS Frosh tea and lie about their HS varsity days. And want to make sure their kid pitches and plays shortstop. And kids have no say on what team they are on, based on a “draft” or address Although it’s different everywhere travel ball is the free market. Both team and kid consent. I know it’s not cheap, but kids and families can fundraiser, mow lawns, sell squares; do inexpensive uniforms etc My kids wouldn’t be on the same path of success if it wasn’t for travel sports.

NEW: Family of a Texas teen loses it as judge sentences him to 25 years in prison for robbing a convenience store. Judge Raquel West was seen torching 18-year-old Caden James Fontenette before handing out the sentence. "There was a time some years ago that there really wasn't even a question... State's attorneys were recommending youthful offenders probation. Let's give everybody an opportunity..." West said. "You don't have a good likelihood of being successful if I were to put you on probation... I'm going to sentence you to a term of 25 years." Fontenette pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery for a 2025 incident where he and two others robbed a convenience store at gunpoint. The suspects were caught on camera assaulting the store clerk. Fontenette will likely be in his 40s when he is released from prison.
