@BrandonBuilds_ @contra Interesting, that sounds like a bug. Let me look into it and I will follow up here.

@freelancer_matt thanks for that! In this particular situation, change of scope would also change the project end date, but I couldn’t adjust the end date on the project. When I tried to just add a milestone to the job for the additional work, the client’s end was showing that she has to repay the initial deposit and previous milestone, even though she already had. Ended up just creating a new project for growth work and having the scope just be the growth work!

How do my @Contra homies handle growth work on projects in Contra? Client wants additional work, and is totally willing to pay and set a new goal date. Do you finish the current project and create a new one? Or just make comments in the current one about your agreement?

@freelancer_matt I was about to submit my framer template and wanted to use contra for payments however I'm seeing reports that there's a 15 USD fee, despite the 0% commission and also buyers are redirected into opening contra account, terrible for the CX. Could you clarify pls?

Hey @JennieLunis! Matt here from Contra. This has now been fixed. Anyone who wants to access their product simply needs to enter a short code that is instantly sent to their email. This should greatly improve the experience. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to continue processing your product payments!

I just lost a sale because of Contra’s checkout experience. After trying @contra for a week, I’m switching back to Lemon Squeezy for now. A customer requested a refund because they couldn’t access the template without creating a Contra account and going through the onboarding process. I honestly didn’t even realize this was required. I tested it myself. You can access the order right after payment, but if you close the page and come back later, you do have to create a full account with profile details. That’s way too much friction for a simple template purchase. Contra’s fees are lower, but the checkout flow creates unnecessary barriers. Hoping the team can improve this in the future.

@JennieLunis @contra Thank you for this, I just shared with the team. That is not a good flow. I will make sure this is fixed asap.

Hi Matt, appreciate you looking into this! I recorded a short video of the flow I’m experiencing. As you can see, when the user clicks “View your purchase,” they’re prompted to log in and then see a popup asking them to create a profile. I think the login step (basic authentication) makes sense, but requiring users to create a new account feels like too much friction for simply accessing their purchase.

@SashaMozdir got it! That $15 fee is expected for direct payouts to a Georgian bank account. Given the limited local payout options, I would suggest using one of our lower-fee options such as USD bank payouts (you can set up a virtual U.S. bank account through Wise), PayPal, Payoneer, or crypto. I hope this helps!

So I tested @contra myself. Sold a Framer template for $79 and almost half of the payment disappeared in fees 😕 When I initiated the payout they showed: ~$15 platform fee (which I hadn’t seen mentioned before). Expected payout: ~$50+ Actual amount received in my bank: $41.86 ☹️ Honestly, it would be a great option for creators in countries without Stripe support. But with payouts like this it’s hard to use. I’ll try PayPal payout next and see if the numbers change. Anyone here already withdrawing from Contra? What were your real fees?
Sasha Mozdir@SashaMozdir

Anyone here selling Framer templates via Contra instead of LemonSqueezy? 👋 Curious about real differences in fees, checkout flow, and customer experience. Pros/cons? Considering testing it for direct sales

@yaroslavhorbach Hey @yaroslavhorbach! This was fixed. You should now see "I'll cover the fees" remain the same as you toggle it on and off.

@freelancer_matt Yeah, that makes sense. It might be a recent update, because I don't remember running into this before. Thanks for the response and for taking the time to look into it 😊

While creating a payment link for a client, I saw a toggle for who pays the platform fee. By default it says «Client will pay fees.» When you switch it on, the label changes to «I'll pay fees.» For a moment I thought: «If client pays is OFF… does that mean I'll pay it?» Changing the label with the toggle makes the logic feel hidden. Sometimes small wording choices create unnecessary friction. Screens from @contra

@itsanwarraza @contra @lemonsqueezy Okay, thank you. As far as I know, Contra allows users to withdraw funds via cryptocurrency. For people like me, from the third world, this option would be ideal.

So I've tried @contra product, basically I tested out two links attached to same template and saw where people clicked and bought, here is what I found. Contra: 01. Processing fee is $4 and $2 is platform fee, so its less than @lemonsqueezy , which roughly 8$. 02. Contra payments are available for withdrawal after 1 day, and you get notification of sale after it has been processed. 03. You can't see customers yet, you can jus see the name. 04. You get minimum or less controls for customization as compared to lemon squeezy. Lemon Squeezy: 01. You get more customization but more deduction on the each product sale. 02. You get customers data and controls to run compaigns but you have 14 day waiting period. Honestly its kinda personal preference but I personally decided to go with contra. Also my button given inside actual website generated same leads and revenue as the button on framer marketplace which is surprising. Let me know if anyone else has tried it?

Hey @itsanwarraza! Matt here from the Contra Payments team. Great to hear you chose Contra for your product sales. It might not be obvious, but you get instant access to your customer list when you click into your product from the product catalogue page (contra.com/products). However, you only get access to the buyer’s email if they opt in to sharing it. If the product is free, you will always have access to the buyer’s first name, last name, and email.
