Jerusalem is wonderful but I have to be honest. At night it is the spookiest place I’ve ever been. There are ghosts and goblins and monsters in the rocks and trees. There are ill spirits in the shaded groves. And vaporous dank dew on the needles. The pines stacked beneath your feet hide ancient bones. The hills are all haunted and the stone homes are full of ghosts. I was thinking this and then something wonderful - I saw my first ever porcupine. It ran across a vacant lot next to some coaches parked in streetlight. It shook it’s ass as it went and then disappeared into the shadows of ghost country. And then it was quiet again. The coaches were silent. The tarmac was still. The cold chill of witches breath returned to frost over grass. I continued walking and as I turned a corner and saw the lights of civilisation, the towerblock windows looked like the eyes of skulls. They stared down into secluded valleys knowing only too well that the stars in the sky never arrive in time to save a traveller gone astray…
