In Iran, the future of war has definitively come into view. Advanced military technology had already made war precise. Now with high-volume drone warfare in Iran, that precision is mass-produced. My take:

Firefighters responded to an early morning fire on Manotick Main Street, working quickly under challenging conditions, including freezing rain, to bring the blaze under control. At approximately 07:56, the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-storey structure in the 5600 block of Manotick Main Street. While en route, responding crews could see a significant column of smoke, prompting the declaration of a “working fire” and the dispatch of additional resources. Upon arrival, Firefighters confirmed active flames and heavy smoke venting from the structure, with fire extending through the roof. The building contained a commercial occupancy on the first floor and a residential unit on the second. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack, advancing multiple hose lines into the structure while an aerial ladder was deployed to conduct suppression operations from above. Firefighters simultaneously carried out primary and secondary searches of the smoke-filled building, confirming that no occupants were inside. During operations, a large hole in the second-floor structure created a significant hazard for crews. Due to deteriorating conditions and the volume of water being applied from above, Firefighters were briefly withdrawn from the structure at 08:40. Crews re-entered at 08:58 to continue interior operations. Given the age of the building and the extent of renovations, Firefighters were required to conduct extensive overhaul, opening walls and ceilings to locate and extinguish hidden pockets of fire. The fire was declared under control at 11:10. Two adults have been displaced as a result of the fire. Victim Services has been notified to assist. One cat was located deceased inside the structure. An @OttFire Investigator is on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. #OttNews 📸 @OFSFirePhoto

Most people don't know Twinkies were created because strawberries went out of season. In the 1930s, baker James Dewar worked for Continental Baking Company, making strawberry shortcake fingers. When strawberry season ended, the machines sat idle for months. Dewar refused to let equipment go to waste. He swapped the strawberry filling for banana cream, created a year-round permanent product, and named it Twinkies after a "Twinkle Toe Shoes" billboard. During the Great Depression, they were cheap, shelf-stable, and comforting. During World War II, bananas were rationed, the filling changed to vanilla—and that became the permanent flavor. Twinkies weren't built as a snack; they were built as a survival product that kept factories running and families fed through America's hardest decades. These are the forgotten stories behind the tools, brands, machines, and inventions that built America. #IronAndHonor
