Friendly reminder that it’s OK to feel sad and tired before Mother’s Day. Lonely children often have double-duty: to provide themselves with the maternal love and attention they were denied, and to grieve that absence. 💐

@LaMarchinaMC Wow. Yep. This is spot-on. Social media makes a popularity contest amongst creatives, which I find phony and cringey. I also envy the game they play because it feels so much easier than pushing myself to be a better writer and reader and thinker.

It still surprises when I learn some aspect of my dysfunctional childhood wasn’t the norm for everyone. Kids wrote thank you notes, really?? Not in my family. We kids were raised in hostility and rudeness.

@Sadie_NC I live in Montana where it’s so dry the towels naturally dry in an hour. Some areas, towels never dry. I guess laundering towels is a regional thing.

I was talking to my neighbor and we got on the topic of towels and how I always seem to have so many to wash. She asked me this question. Do you use a new towel after every shower? Yes I do. She told me she changes hers every few showers. So I am curious what do y'all do? Change them every time or use the same one more than once? 🤔🤔🤔

@recovery_your Family scapegoat, here. I get how severe childhood trauma is. Everyone deserves to heal. You deserve it. Your loved ones deserve it. Healing is an essential health matter.

@HiddenBrain The best: Hand-knit mittens by my mother. She is also one source of my trauma, so it ‘warms me’ to think of her knitting those mittens and thinking of me. 🎁 Healing was the best gift I’ve given to myself.

@AMS_Perkins Mom’s mental health is central to family cohesion. Hang in there. Babies can’t control their needs. Kids are resilient as long as their physical and emotional needs are being met. Marriage needs a consistent date night. It’s tough. I get it!!

Seasoned wives/mothers: I’ve been struggling with everything lately. I can’t seem to keep up with the house work, teaching school and helping Trevor run our business. How do you get it all done? I’m trying to get up earlier, but the baby is still getting me up 3-5x a night.

Competing with my brother in 1989. Re-Posting in honor of the skating season heating up. I hated & loved this sport equally: my forthcoming book details how my mom helped to make this happen & how I drew on these strengths I built on the ice to help her in the end.
