An original, silk-printed Apollo 8 patch. It journeyed with the crew on humanity's very first voyage around the Moon. Now, 58 years later, that very same patch is going to circle the Moon once again.

"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.

"Thanks to you and to the whole team on the ground for building on our Apollo legacy with Artemis." In addition to a wake-up song this morning, the Artemis II astronauts were treated to an audio message from Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke.

Last night was EPIC! A 6 hour night with Apollo 16 moonwalker Charlie Duke in Germany, with only 25 guests! It was fantastic to meet him and his wife and talk to them. He spoke about several artifacts like original moon boots, a bubble helmet, gloves etc. I gave him a 3D printed replica of his lunar scoop and he signed another one for me. Great meeting all the other Apollo enthusiasts!

We are in a race against China so we need the best companies to operate at a speed that gets us to the Moon FIRST. SpaceX has the contract to build the HLS which will get U.S. astronauts there on Artemis III. But, competition and innovation are the keys to our dominance in space so @NASA is opening up HLS production to Blue Origin and other great American companies. 🚀
