It’s official – I’ve now tabled 🇨🇦’s first-ever legislation on a #GuaranteedBasicIncome in @HoCChamber!
Now the hard work begins to get Bill #C273 through the House of Commons with support from all sides! #cdnpoli

@sheilawalker73 @DustyRoseYYC We're wishing for equity & compassion for citizens living in poverty.
We're wishing for an end to homelessness.
We're wishing for an end to child poverty.
We're wishing for increased health & happiness.
We're wishing for an end to trauma inflicted by poverty.

@sheilawalker73 @DustyRoseYYC Exactly, at what cost?
Families, lives, dreams are okay to sacrifice?
#UBI can create equity by consolidating programs that already exist, reduce Poverty Inc (167,000 orgs spending $34B/year), decrease healthcare costs dramatically & many other systemic inefficiencies. #cdnpoli

@DonPadget @donnlovett @Forbes Why tf do we need a fighter jet?
We need #UBI.
We need universal #childcare.
We need to end #homelessness.
We need clean #water for FN communities.
We need #mentalhealth supports.
What we don’t need is a fucking war plane.

Do the @cityofcalgary's Governance, Land Use Bylaws, Zoning, Policy, Legislation, etc exclude, discriminate, marginalize or prevent the poor from participating fully in #YYC's economic, social & political activities?
Asking for 30%+ of Calgarians.

There's a #FarmersProtest happening in Germany.
But the German Govt didn’t block their path with barbed wires, dig highways or label them Anti-National. And neither did the Govt declare it an ‘internal matter’ where others can’t comment. I guess that’s how democracies work.

Doing some independent fact checking on this. I'm not finished, but so far 185k of the "protected" 335k was either a)already protected b)already logged c)not really forest. So
I'm not done yet, but I've found that over 50% of the order was bullshit.

New food hub to strengthen food security in #Kamloops! The B.C. Government is investing up to $750,000 to purchase food-processing equipment & cover other startup costs in partnership with the @cityofkamloops & the Kamloops Food Policy Council: ow.ly/sBVz50DGL5c

@edmontonpolice @TaylorMadeYYC @CityofEdmonton This is an inhumane way to approach extreme poverty.

@TaylorMadeYYC @CityofEdmonton Hi Taylor. The cleanups that have been occurring downtown are being led by the City of Edmonton’s Park Rangers. EPS officers are in attendance simply for security reasons, to ensure the safety of the staff assisting with the cleanups.

@nytimes "bureaucratic problems"
One of these words is redundant.

Posts cover a wide range of bureaucratic problems. Many people are simply not able to get on the phone with anyone at state offices. nyti.ms/2OutOaU

As the unemployment crisis drags on, patterns in the way people use one particular Reddit forum shows how it's become a place to figure out how to navigate an antiquated and disorganized system for providing people a financial lifeline. nyti.ms/3d9bXAN

If Housing 1st is the model, why are we not embracing #Microhomes & #TinyHomes?

And if you wanted to rent that apartment you would need $2000 to occupy (1st month’s rent & DD).
This is why the affordable housing crisis is systemic abuse of our lower income citizens. #ableg @friendsofahrc #yyc
