Hey Jason, you know me and you know I respect your opinions and positions, so let me offer a respectful, business-driven contrarian take: Large cities like Minneapolis require outside development investment. Sometimes this comes from large shops in NYC and sometimes it comes from overseas. As companies like Target pull out of downtown (and the entire ecosystem of brokers that work with Target do the same), downtown just isn't what it used to be. The people in the comments that are focused on safety are incorrect. The North Loop is great and the average citizen doesn't feel any safety concerns going to a sporting event or play downtown. However, without daytime traffic, bars and restaurants and retail cannot survive, not to mention Minneapolis vacancy is one of the highest in the country. Lack of outside investment in our city's development is the consequence of poor leadership and policy. Walz and Frey should have been working with Target executives to get them back in office post COVID by offering payroll tax breaks. He should have done the same to keep Target downtown. Outside investors compare Minneapolis as an investment opportunity vs. other markets. Clearly, other markets are much more investible than Minneapolis. It's our city and state's leadership's duty to make sure that policy makes our city investable, which they clearly have not. Frey and Walz are career politicians, not people that understand business, which is killing the current state and future of our great city and state. Another example of this is rent control in Saint Paul which has discouraged residential development, which is what ultimately drives down the cost of living (both ownership and rent). If you want to push down housing costs, increase supply, don't constrain the supply that is already in place!

A few years ago, I had to drop $12,000 on a vet bill for my dog because of some bad goat milk we gave her😞 This small business pet store near us said that raw goat milk would help her stomach issues, so we gave it a shot. After Daisy, my dog, drank the goat milk she seemed fine… That night at 2 am we wake up to blood all over our bed and on the floor. She puked and pooped blood everywhere. I thought we were going to lose our precious little girl. We took her to the vet immediately and they diagnosed it as hemorrhagic gastritis. They put her on medicine and IV for four days. She had to stay three nights at the vet… Daisy was doing much better, but the vet bill was unexpected. We didn’t know how crazy vet bills were until this tragedy happened. I am posting this to pose a question… Are vet bills this expensive because it costs a lot of money to run the business or are they just making money hand over fist and taking advantage of vulnerable animal lovers? I’m not very talented generally, but I’ve always had one skill. I can read people quickly. I usually see through their bullshit and recognize them for who they really are.
