Indonesians are known as generous donors, including in the field of science. Indonesia ranks 3rd in the world for the number of scientific articles produced, and 95% are open access. This means Indonesian researchers are willing to pay more to publish in scientific journals, even though: > it's expensive, averaging $2,000–5,000 per article >it’s slow, taking 6–9 months to get published > give up their intellectual property rights > there is no real incentives in return this is the problem @frons_id is here to solve. we're building a knowledge hub owned by Indonesian researchers, constructed together with the community, and designed to empower Indonesian academia. so that researchers, peer reviewers, readers, and universities can earn sustainably from their core acitvities: research, curating, and developing innovation. Frons exists for that vision.
