@gregorrobertson Home prices needs to come down to become affordable. Say it out loud! Otherwise you are the wrong person for this job!

The question I answered was about reducing the price of a family’s current home, which for most Canadians, is their most valuable asset.
The question wasn’t “should homes be more affordable?” Of course they should. Vancouver led the country on co-ops, rental-only zoning,
Mackenzie Gray@Gray_Mackenzie
When asked if house prices need to go down, new Housing Minister Gregor Robertson said, "No, I think that we need to deliver more supply, make sure the market is stable, it's a huge part of our economy. We need to be delivering more affordable housing." #cdnpoli

@gregorrobertson Let me clarify to you: at current prices, "family" homes are not affordable. They need to come down. Not just that, but economy crumbles. You are the wrong guy for this job. Get out!

"One of the highest tariff rates, 50 percent, was imposed on the African nation of Lesotho, whose average citizen earns less than $5 a day.
Because Lesotho’s citizens are too poor to afford most U.S. exports, while the U.S. imports $237 million in diamonds and other goods from the small landlocked nation, we have reserved close to our highest-possible tariff rate for one of the world’s poorest countries.
The notion that taxing Lesotho gemstones is necessary for the U.S. to add steel jobs in Ohio is so absurd that I briefly lost consciousness in the middle of writing this sentence."

Everyone responding to this Canadian products list is saying Tim Hortons is Brazilian, not Canadian. In reality the franchises are still owned by Canadians, only the parent company is Brazilian.
Think about it - if Tim Hortons is Brazilian now, why does the coffee still suck?

Lists are already circulating of Canadian alternatives to US products. Here’s one.
English

@Mill_Moron Yet, Brazil is not imposing any tariffs on Canada ... And Brazil is full of Canadian mining companies causing environmental disasters over there, so no harm for Canadians to buy things from Brazilian owned business.
English

@JohnPasalis Those are not economist. Those are people that parrot liberal bullshit ...
English

This is because housing economists believe that high housing costs are almost exclusively due to restrictions on housing supply
They believe if you remove these restrictions supply can respond to any demand shock & prices will remain flat
This is a theoretical academic utopia
Bryan Breguet@Prominent_Bryan
I have colleagues (economists) who have literally argued with me that the international students had no impact on our housing market It's insane. Economists arguing against demand and supply The evidence is crystal clear
