seemingly anthropic failed to prebook compute and ended in a massive crunch for consumers but also they have the best model in the world. how does that happen? do they split disproportionate amount of compute towards research and training?

just had my first suit tailor made for a wedding and realising that high quality tailoring of the 1900-60s is lost technology, I showed my tailor pictures of carry grant for reference and he couldn't understand what I was even asking for.

i have one project i completely stopped working on because only a fable tier model can help it now.

discovered this album just a couple weeks ago but it immediately made be nostalgic for the 2017-20 era, specifically i have this false memory that i used to listen to it on my walks through desolate streets during the lockdowns.

Apparently lots academics now deny the decline of the Ottoman empire. The motte is pedantry about the empire's middle period being "stagnant" rather than "declining", and the bailey is dismissing the whole concept of Ottoman decline as an orientalist myth.
