I’m sensing a pattern. Diverging from my normally snarky posting style, we need to have a serious conversation about the deep web of abusers who are currently protected under religious freedom laws in America. The Constitution gives you the freedom to practice your religion however you see fit … WITHIN the confines of the laws of this country. The exact same Constitution that protects this country from “Sharia Law,” also protects this country from using religious freedom as an excuse to cover up abuse. I have been in many debates on this app about the “sanctity” of confession. If licensed therapists are legally required to report abuse, why aren’t the churches? Child molestation does not fall under the protection of “religious freedom” and there are a concerning amount of people in this country who believe that it does. God may forgive you, that doesn’t mean that the United States government should. Protect children. Period.

Inertia is a real force of the universe, and this is just as true in business. The Concords releasing this year started development in 2019-2021. GW's releases this year were decided upon years ago. Beyond that, the woke people that infested these companies, like the rogue intern that snuck FemStodes into 40k and the clown Social Media Intern that forced GW's hand afterwards, aren't just going to poof out of existence. They'll actively fight things being returned to normal, and if they have a choice, they'll destroy the company / IP / fandom / industry on their way out rather than allow it to fall back into the hands of "chuds." Their interest was never AOS or 40k or Tabletop or what have you, it was "fixing hobbies" so the "chuds" can't enjoy them. If they can't fix them, they'll destroy them.

You know I called Age of Sigmar being squatted a long time ago, and have insisted it was inevitable. I was always told, "IT SOLD BETTER AND IS MORE POPULAR THAN OLD WARHAMMER FANTASY EVER WAS! YOU'RE COPING!" A healthy game doesn't get blown up in order to be remade into another one. Warhammer Fantasy was not in a healthy state when Games Workshop pulled the plug. Never denied otherwise. The cope from AOS fans comes from insisting AOS ever succeeded. It's limped along for four editions now. Only "outselling" Warhammer Fantasy Battles in so far as WHFB sales went to zero before AOS came out. Of course you're going to sell better when the competition doesn't exist anymore to sell anything. But what we're witnessing is a glimpse into the true state of things at Games Workshop. Financial reports mean nothing. You don't hard reboot whole fucking settings because they're selling well. Because they have bright futures. You do it because you're desperate. Shoving more partisan political bullshit into it (Sigmar dying, humans split into "evil conservative" and "enlightened progressive" factions) just makes the situation look worse. Age of Sigmar was the already just Warhammer but woke. Tripling down on it won't make "The Last World" sell well. Mixing it with The Old World won't make it sell well. You're just going to alienate both groups. The Golden Mean Fallacy exists for a reason. Now we have to ask ourselves: How long before it happens to Warhammer 40,000? How long before the rot becomes terminal and everything that remains of what we loved is burned down to appease the modern audience that every other company is now aware doesn't exist? Games Workshop nuking AOS to reboot it into a freakish hybrid of TOW and AOS is missing the point in a spectacular way only Games Workshop can. Perpetually out of touch with customers. When, not if, WHEN it happens to Warhammer 40k, it'll be even worse. The clock is now ticking down on the end times. Back up everything from old 40k you love. It might end up being gone before you know it.
