@ClutchPoints Luka 7 days a week & twice on Sundays. Brunson is a superstar no doubt, but given neither plays D well, Luka's size makes him a better rebounder & his pass 1st mindset makes Luka the better assist player
And Luka got his team to the Finals out of the much more difficult West

@SpursReporter The close out to shooters was much more controlled & rarely included leaving feet
Abandoned the immediate SGA double across half court going for a situational double strategy...
In tandem with #2, defenders seemed to steer SGA from behind toward Wemby if/when they got beat...🤔

The “secret” adjustment.
Before Game 4, Stephon Castle said the Spurs had identified “one easy fix” after watching film and then after the game Devin Vassell said the team had made one defensive adjustment but refused to reveal what it was.
I'm wonder if that adjustment and fix wasn't as simple as targeting and stopping OKC’s Alex Caruso?
During the two losses Caruso had become one of the most impactful players on the court and to see him shut down the way he was on Sunday was, to say the least, impressive. Yet no one is talking about this.
What do you think the adjustment was?

@KendrickPerkins Don't be so sure, Perk. 30 points by @wemby is now the benchmark of who wins & loses in @Spurs Thunder series. 30+, Spurs win; less, they lose. 30+ is indicative of Wemby being aggressive on O, getting shots up, & scoring in the paint. Replicate that twice more & Spurs win in 6.

Series is going 7 games but best believe that Game 5 and 6 are going to be BANGERS!!! Btw can someone tell Chet the Conference Finals has started
Legion Hoops@LegionHoops
Tonight, OKC did not receive as many foul calls as usual, and it showed how tough it is for them to win without them. The Spurs have now forced a best-of-three series against the defending NBA champs, led by Victor Wembanyama. For the first time this season, the Thunder seem vulnerable, especially with Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell injured. The Spurs odds are surging to advance to the NBA Finals, likely against the New York Knicks in a legendary matchup. Unreal.

@ClintonNFriends To be filed again in the "2 Americas" category, yes...yes you CAN spell "Destiny" without "NY" 🤗

@ClintonNFriends Players play for rings & awards but mostly they play for the respect of their peers & it's clear SGA's peers respect his ability to exploit the rules but not his play. And no matter how many awards he wins, he'll always have to live with that knowledge & shame

@KendrickPerkins You lose a 4th actual game, Kenny, the probability of @cavsdan freeing you up to pursue a career in Analytics is 💯%...analytically speaking 🫨 #smh

@GetUpESPN @RealJayWilliams In agreement with the general sentiment. But mentality in the equation of greatness is massively weighted relative to physical skills. So, Michael will remain the King of that mountain until we see @wemby with as many "will my team to victory" post season moments & titles as MJ
English

"[Victor Wembanyama] has the makings of potentially the greatest player we've ever seen."
@RealJayWilliams says Wemby is a combination of the best qualities of several NBA legends 👀

@robinlundberg They didn't call a landing zone foul - they called Fox's knee contacting SGA foot. I don't see contact but even if there was it was the textbook definition of marginal & 💯% had no bearing on SGA shot & definitely not his landing. Clear foul-baiting flop by SGA.
English

SGA flops/falls too much but given landing space here I don’t think this was an egregious instance—good foul call.
Hoop Central@TheHoopCentral
De'Aaron Fox was called for a foul on SGA here. 😅
English

@SamHumphreys34 Unless you were crying the same blues when Hartenstein literally mauled @wemby in game 2, including multiple dirty arm yanking plays while Wemby jumping for rebounds & which risked real injury...then "SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!" cuz you've got no leg to stand on. 😭
English

First half is over, and the Thunder have 7 free throw attempts. Spurs have 17FTA.
Castle and the Spurs are draped over Shai, hacking him, pulling his jersey, reaching in, getting in his landing space, tackling him every single possession…
…and Shai has 2FTA.
It’s a shame a game of this magnitude isn’t being called both ways.
Tough enough for OKC to play without JDub and Ajay, but now they are playing against Scott Foster.

I hate the flopping
But that is a foul. Shooter has to be able to come down

@fruity_pebbler @SpursReporter @spurs @wemby Dude he didnt play major minutes for the celtics that season. Just wow.
English

@sportsmachineNH @SpursReporter @spurs @wemby That's funny, cuz I'm pretty sure he has a Championship ring for a Celtics post season in which he played major minutes & had significant production due to unavailability of Porzingis
...but what do I know? 🤨
English

@fruity_pebbler @SpursReporter @spurs @wemby But two bigs means playing Kornet. And Kornet is not a playoff player sorry.
English

@WembyAlienEra @RicBucher Except they're not. Spurs have 5 Bigs on the roster - Wemby, Kornet, Plumlee, Olynyk, Biyambo. That Mitch Johnson only playing 2 is a tactical mistake. He's wasting @wemby screening at top of lane. Go 2 bigs, let 2nd big screen at top, & keep Wemby at the rim where he's lethal.
English

Ric Bucher with some perspective on the Spurs this season:
"Outside of Wemby and Luke Kornet, the Spurs are relatively small. A Jaden McDaniels type wing for example would be a great addition to this roster.
That is the beauty and value of the Spurs getting this far this soon. They are finding out exactly what they need to be the last team standing.
Lets not forget, however this series goes, they are ahead of schedule. They were not in the playoffs prior to this with Victor, and now they are in the Conference Finals, with still a very good chance of potentially going to the NBA Finals."
