Populism is caveman politics.
Right populists love RFK Jr while he dismantles public health. "But he's jacked, so he must know something about health. Good for the country!"
Right populists love Trump despite the bankruptcies, the failures, the incompetence. "But he has a golden penthouse and plays a billionaire on TV, so he must be strong and smart!"
Left populists love Hasan and wave off every legitimate criticism. "But he's tall with a strong jawline, so clearly anyone pushing back just wishes they were him!"

Last month, the City Council passed two bills related to the constitutional right to protest — one for houses of worship, and one for educational institutions.
Today, I’m letting one bill go into effect, and vetoing the other. I’d like to take a moment to explain why.
As Mayor, I will always make sure the right to protest, prayer and protection are guaranteed for every New Yorker.

Hasan Piker is guilty of the same “social murder” that he believes can justify assassination.
He is worth millions of dollars, owns a nearly $3 million home, wears expensive clothing and jewelry, and otherwise lives far beyond what he needs to survive.
Meanwhile, according to GiveWell, it costs roughly $3,000 to $5,500 to save a human life via charitable giving.
This means that Piker is actively choosing to engage in “social murder” and let hundreds, if not thousands, of people die by hoarding his wealth and denying other human beings life-saving resources.
According to his own twisted logic, that would make him a legitimate target for assassination. (I do not agree or want harm to come to him).

Hasan Piker is worth at least $8 million. That means he is richer than 99.92% of the planet. By his logic, his property should be immediately seized.
