Bishop of Willesden on the Iftar : "The public iftar in Trafalgar Square was not an act of cultural imposition, nor a signal of division. It was, rather, a moment of hospitality: an invitation to share in the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, extended by one community to the wider public. It was open, generous and peaceful. It reflected something profoundly British; the instinct to gather, to mark significant moments together, and to make space in our common life for the traditions that shape our neighbours. "To suggest that such an event is somehow threatening risks misunderstanding both the nature of religious expression and the character of our national life. Religious freedom in this country has never meant the privatisation of belief. It has meant the opposite: the right of individuals and communities to live out their faith openly, visibly and without fear. That principle applies as much to Muslims observing Ramadan as it does to Christians celebrating Easter, Jews marking Passover, Hindus celebrating Diwali, or Sikhs observing Vaisakhi." churchofengland.org/media/news-and…

This is at 1% of the US population. Are you able to extrapolate to what happens when that number reaches 5%? 10%? 20%? Keep burying your head in the sand.

The proportion of high-IQ people in the world is declining fast.

Idea for Euro rw parties: frame mass immigration as an “Americanization” of Europe. “Italy/Spain/Poland/etc is not a land of immigrants, you’re thinking of USA.

19 year old Iranian wrestling champion Saleh Mohammadi was just publicly executed for protesting against the Islamic Regime. So, to all liberal Westerners: Watch and learn. This is what it’s like to ACTUALLY live in a nation with no free speech.

Last year we lost a THIRD of our refineries. Under Labour, crippling Carbon Taxes are killing off our heavy industry. Leaving us more reliant on foreign imports just as the world gets more dangerous. Economic suicide.

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

Author and DJ Zakia Sewell is using British folk culture to challenge far-right nationalism. Sewell has journeyed around the British Isles exploring Britain’s folk resurgence for her debut book, Finding Albion: Myth, Folklore and the Quest for a Hidden Britain. Finding Albion builds on Sewell’s hit audio series for BBC Radio 4, which saw her seek out a different, more inclusive idea of “Britishness” beyond the usual national myths and symbols.
