Partnership is essential for ending viral hepatitis by 2030. This week, @_GHSofficial and partners with support from @WHO and @EF_LINITIATIVE are developing a National Strategic Plan for Eliminating Viral Hepatitis in Ghana.

South Africa now has a tentative agreement on a coalition government, not to be confused with a Government of National Unity or GNU. This means that Jacob Zuma’s MK Party is now South Africa’s official opposition party since the DA, which came second in South Africa’s elections, will now be part of the government and cannot oppose it, as cabinet decisions are collectively binding. Is it a GNU or not? A government of national unity is a government formed by multiple political parties that have been elected to parliament. South Africa’s coalition government agreement only includes the ANC, DA, IFP, and PA ( for now), which means it cannot be a GNU when it lacks representation particularly from the left. If other parties in parliament are not involved, it does not fully meet the traditional definition of a government of national unity.

During the ongoing African Hepatitis Summit in Abuja, Nigeria, today #Rwanda has received a Viral Hepatitis Elimination Champion Award in recognition of the outstanding contribution towards the Elimination of Viral Hepatitis in Africa .

The path-to-elimination (PTE) for viral hepatitis B & C elimination encourages development of hepatitis programmes at country level and amplifies the impact of the hepatitis response with @WHO certification of achievement at bronze, silver and gold tiers. #WorldHepatitisDay
