@NFLCharean Deion was the most vocal about smaller classes, but how much sentiment is there from other Hall of Famers about this issue (many of whom have benefitted from a lower bar)? Do a majority of Hall of Famers you've talked to want smaller classes?

Mike Holmgren deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, but the Pro Football Hall of Fame changed the voting procedures beginning this year. This is what they and the Hall of Famers wanted -- smaller classes, making it more difficult to get in and thus more exclusive.

@Profhofcantonf Have you read anything about how the votes went after they got it down to 7? It's quite possible the 3 who got in didn't get 80% after the first vote.

Eli Manning was a top 15 finalist, but was in the first group of five at that stage to get cut. If the Hall of Fame keeps their "small Hall" rules in place, it could be a *very* long wait for Eli.

The Modern players who made the top 7 this year become automatic finalists next year, due to a new rule the Hall just created. Only 11 finalist spots left in 2026 since these guys are already there: 🏈 Luke Kuechly 🏈 Adam Vinatieri 🏈 Torry Holt 🏈 Willie Anderson

Guessing the Hall of Fame adjusts the rules again soon. Not sure they thought this through…

The voting rule changes led to the smallest class since 2005 and halts the momentum the Hall had in recent years addressing the Senior backlog. The Modern category is now going to get significantly backed up as well.
