The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠

Ozempic exists because scientists studied Gila monster saliva. The exact kind of basic research this Administration would have cut without hesitation. Breakthroughs like this happen only if we choose to fund science even if the outcome is impossible to see at the start.

“We’ll lose 125 million pounds by this time next year.” RFK Jr. says the new deal with GLP-1 drug companies will play a major role in helping Americans get healthier. “It’s going to have dramatic effects on human health in this country.”

@RepMcGovern Didn’t he pull funding from foreign aid on the grounds of needing to take care of the American people first. Now wants us to help a foreign government because it will directly benefit him. He has no interest in helping Americans, he was freeing up money to use for his own gain.

Republicans can’t be bothered to negotiate with Democrats to stop your insurance premiums from skyrocketing—but they have no problem with Trump bailing out Argentina with $20B of your money.  So much for America First!
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Q: What is the benefit for the US in helping Argentina? TRUMP: Just helping a great philosophy take over a great country ... we don't have to do it. It's not gonna make a big difference for our country.

Science is not a contest to be won. It’s a collective pursuit of truth that evolves with evidence - not a debate settled by opinion or the loudest voice.

@DrCatharineY Yeah but clearly that cat had something to do with this.. if not everything to do with it. You can’t use a cat in this context because they are masterminds- they are the cause of everything.

Does science make you rich? No. Is there good work-life balance? No. But at least it’s easy, right? Also no

Using chemotherapy for cancer isn’t cheating. Using SSRIs for depression or anxiety isn’t cheating. Using statins for cholesterol isn’t cheating. Using ace inhibitors for blood pressure isn’t cheating. So why would using GLP-1s for obesity be cheating?

I (finally) got Adderall and now I'm in "oh I could have felt so much better if anyone had noticed this for 30 years" late-stage diagnosis mourning. Here's to all the first born daughters, all the "perfect student"-esque people who never got the support they needed
