Extreme Sims for THE PLAYERS ⛳ Reitan is probably the first name on the list that causes a little head shake of confusion or surprising. 🤔 Lowry was built to win at Sawgrass ... He just has to figure out how to win anywhere first. Rory and Knapp both coming off WDs 🤷‍♂️ Tommy Lad is 7th in Top 40 Rate but just 36th in win equity. Kind of the story for most of his career in the States. Splits that ranked highest over the last five years: Performance in the Wind 🌬️ --Control your ball, manage the course Performance on Overseed 🦗 Performance Tough Courses ⛑️ Performance on Less than Driver Courses (even with sawgrass drifting away in that department since the move back to March)

Bridgeman (a slightly longer version of Denny McCarthy) is over 30% owned while Denny is 3%. Whoops. Longtime Ryo lover here but 26% 😬 Also ... 3% Eric Cole in Florida seems too low Everyone's early-season darling Johnny Keefer has also quickly been tossed aside after two missed cuts.

@redkacheek Prolly 12+ as driver and under 10 as LTD or thereabouts. Without any other context. That Sedgefield chart is really something. Amazing that Cam won there

That’s a good point. Then I guess it’s a matter of where you have the cutoff from say 14 par 4/5 holes to 8 or so. Let’s say it’s a course and each hole 100% driver or 100% iron. 14-13-12-11-10-9-8 How many holes until it’s not a “driver” course. Here is Sedgefield. Hurts my eyes lol

Gotcha... to me it's the sum of the green plots that matters. If an imaginary course has 10 par 3s but you hit driver 100% of the time on the other 8 holes... That would for sure be a less than driver course in my eyes. Because you're hitting fewer drivers than the average course. Just curious....What does this club selection chart look like for Sedgefield

@futureoffantasy lol not trolling but thank you. I could see the mixed interpretations though. Is it less than driver on every hole. No. Is it less than driver on half the 4/5s no. So guess it depends what you term it. Probably something like 60% or fewer drivers OTT but not sure the number

@redkacheek So driver is the play for only half the holes at most.... What more do you need to be considered less than driver for you?

So once again, people hear one thing and continue to regurgitate it. Innisbrook Copperhead is not a "less-than-driver" course for PGA Tour players. If your tout spews this nonsense, you can correct them. There are some notable LTD holes (2, 3, 12, ~16), but majority is DRIVERS!

There are numerous layouts that play similar to the Copperhead course at Innisbrook this week, including Sedgefield, Colonial, and TPC Sawgrass. Using the Rabbit Hole's "Comp Courses" filter, here are the best players in the Valspar field on those tracks over the last three years.

Extreme Sims for the Valspar 🎨 Tough, treeline, less than driver track. Mid irons and boring golf with loads of pars required to keep pace.

@TitanicGambler Imagine Scheffler with a 3-shot lead over Eric Cole. Nobody else within 6 shots. Now imagine Eric Cole with a 3shot lead over Scheffler, Rory, and Xander. Five other golfers sitting four shots back. Both three shots leads but entirely different win expectations

Ludvig Åberg will be paired in the final twosome with Michael Thorbjornsen on Sunday at #ThePlayers. Åberg said Saturday night, holding a two-shot lead: “When we were both in college it felt like we played every single tournament together.” He was right. As amateurs, Åberg and Thor played 19 common stroke-play events with Åberg winning that head-to-head series, 11-6-2. Their first matchup came at the 2017 AJGA Rolex Tournament of Championship, where Thor tied for fifth and Åberg was T-16. The first time they were both in contention was the 2018 AJGA Ping Invitational. They each shot 77 in the final round (the field average was 74.7 that day); Thor still won in a three-man playoff while Åberg slipped to T-6. At the 2022 U.S. Amateur, they were paired for the first two rounds at Ridgewood. Thor tied for medalist honors and Åberg shared 39th to also make match play, though both lost in the Round of 64. Their biggest battle came at the 2023 Prestige. Grouped together in the final round, Åberg shot 70 to Thor’s 74 to make up two shots on Thor and win by one over William Mouw.

With a win today, Michael Thornjornsen would become the third youngest winner of #THEPLAYERS ever. Ludvig Aberg would become the eighth youngest winner ever.

Listening to them talk about what a good young talent Ludvig Aberg is at 26…and he definitely is… but a reminder that Tiger actually had completed the career grand slam…..at 24

I've been playing with the driving range data from this week at THE PLAYERS. Here's some fun stuff I've found... First, because I think they're pretty, some overhead and side views of the range sessions of the Top 20.
