Everyone's talking about YC Startup School. But I'm still recovering from VibeCon. The event was great... ...but the footpath to reach wasn't. I encountered: - Busted pedestrian infra - Many deep pits - Lots of trash But also good people 🤍 Oh, and I did it on rollerblades.

I came back to code because AI made it possible for me to build at a level I couldn't before. I'm not coding despite being CEO of YC. I'm coding because this is the most important technological shift since the internet and I'd be an idiot to experience it from the bleachers. I'm 45, running the most important startup institution in the world, and I can ship production software at 2am. That's not a distraction from the job. That is the job understood correctly.

i probably wouldn’t be working on LLMs today if i hadn’t fallen in love with linguistics, in large part due to the Aṣṭādhyāyī 2500 years ago Pāṇini realized the structure of language in the mind is entirely computational, and distilled it into <4k morphophonemic lines of code

as someone who works on making LLMs run faster and cheaper every day, i can confidently say the question of whether theyre conscious has exactly zero impact on whether theyre useful. we dont need our inference stack to be conscious, we need it to be correct, fast, and affordable. the consciousness debate is fascinating philosophy but its a distraction from the actual engineering problems that determine whether AI creates value. the gravity formula doesnt need to exert weight to help you build a bridge @Hesamation
