I’m going to explain it to you like you’re an eight year old. If the FBI tells you they’re investigating a shady business deal you were involved with, and then you go home and destroy records related to that deal, you are guilty of obstruction of justice. You satisfied all three elements of the obstruction statute. Trump did that, in several instances. His acts related to trying to shut down Mueller’s investigation.
