I'm from Benue State. In my state, there are 3 main tribes. Tiv, Idoma, and Igede. I am Igede, a minority tribe in Benue.
Guess what, Idoma wouldn't mind having their own state. In the map drawn for that state, Igede is meant to be part of the new state. This is because of the marginalization both endure in the Benue setup.
The problem with this arrangement is that the Igede people also wouldn't mind having their own state, away from the proposed arrangement with the Idoma tribe. The reason is the marginalization they endure in the zone C division of Benue state. Yea, it turns out an Igede man can not become a senator (minority limitations).
Now, when we go over to the Igede tribe itself, we have clans that don't like each other. They would rather have their own state than stay in the same local government with people who speak the same language and share the same culture and history with them.
This is Nigeria in a nutshell. We hate each other so much and will rather struggle for divisions that expose us to all forms of foreign interference than build a united state.

At this late geopolitical hour, I'm STILL seeing people in my replies repeating the "Nigeria should split" meme, because apparently drawing more arbitrary lines in the sand to add to the ones oyibo drew in 1885 will solve all of you people's problems. Apparently after putting borders between yourself and everybody you don't like, all of you will not still share the same problems you are facing now because problems respect borders. Who knew? Nigeria and Niger have a border between them and Niger is no longer even part of ECOWAS. Remind me how that has made any difference to the terrorism problem both of them are facing along that 1,000KM stretch of "border." Anyway don't mind me. After all NOTHING in this world is worse than what you have in Nigeria. Even Vietnam, Gaza, Hiroshima and Nagasaki didn't suffer as much as you. You definitely don't need to think very carefully about whatever simple-minded political meme you keep repeating, and whose interests it serves. Your job is to obediently repeat everything presented to you as a "solution" and never question it because ANY solution at all os better than what you have. Na you suffer pass 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙏🏾
