So while Mr. Meredith writes : “Future numbers likely do not yet include top ups becuase decisions not made yet.” This is not what the documents actually say. But the govt can always change its mind. (The End. Sorry for the long thread.)

If Poilievre has to be told this time and again I do not trust his judgement nor his political instincts. There are lots of gaps in what Carney is doing - the current Tory caucus Doesnt have the backbone to dig deep
Dimitris Soudas 🇨🇦⚜️🇬🇷☦️ 13.12.1943@DimitrisSoudas

Political Judo. Yes, Mark Carney is highly educated, experienced, and fluent in economics. Do not attack that. Validate it. Say it clearly. Repeat it. Then pivot. Political judo is not about denying your opponent’s strength. It is about using that strength against them. Core Principle: Flip the Credential The mistake is to argue: "Carney is badly educated and is not knowledgeable." The correct argument is: "Carney knows exactly what he's doing. That's what makes the results inexcusable." This single reframe does three things simultaneously: — It sounds fair-minded and serious not petty or desperate — It neutralizes the "you're just attacking a smarter man" counter-narrative — It dramatically raises the stakes: ignorance is forgivable; expertise with failure is disqualifying Turn credentials into expectations. And then patiently wait. If he delivers, Canada wins. If he fails. If someone has that level of expertise, then the bar is not average performance. The bar is exceptional results. You raise the standard. You say, if you are the most qualified economic mind in the room, then Canadians should be seeing the strongest growth, the most affordable housing, the most competitive economy. Anything short of that becomes the story. You say, no one questions your experience. Canadians are expect results. That is the pivot. Always. Turn strength into overreach. Never insult his intelligence. Never call him uneducated. That line backfires immediately. Instead, you box him into his own strength. If he is the expert, then he owns the outcome. If he owns the outcome, then every frustration Canadians feel is his to explain. Every speech, every scrum, every debate answer should be able to return to this spine:   "We are not questioning what Mr. Carney knows. We are questioning what Canadians have to show for it."   This is unassailable. It is fair. It is devastating. It gives the persuadable voter permission to move. That is political judo. Diaries of a has-been. And I’m off to bed. Good night folks.

Probably worth noting that Canada’s foreign affairs minister (and other ministers) mostly fly commercial internationally… Also Finnish President @alexstubb was on my United flight Monday from Dulles to Ottawa. (I went for a funeral). Not sure why the Premier needs a jet.
Robert Benzie@robertbenzie

NEW: The Ontario government has purchased a used $28.9 million private jet for the use of Premier Doug Ford, the @TorontoStar has learned. The 2016 Bombardier Challenger 650 was delivered this week. thestar.com/politics/provi…

"Today, our neighborhood was on lockdown. SWAT teams were everywhere, snipers lying in the snow, and the whole place was completely silent. Then, out of nowhere, our cat Hector casually walks in. Curious about absolutely everything, Hector hops right onto a sniper's back, trying to figure out what is going on. honestly can't tell if he's incredibly brave... or if he simply doesn't care about our human nonsense at all."

A lot of people are asking the exact same question! And then when governments run deficits while corporations run record breaking profits somehow corporate elites conveniently forget his part of the equation. Does CRney have a plan to address this?
Scott Robertson@sarobertson_

Elizabeth May: "I just read in The Guardian that the big oil and gas companies are making $30m [*an hour] because of the wars. So why are we deciding to get rid of the excise tax on gas instead of an excess profit tax on the companies that are raking in the dough due to war?"

After 12 years, the dog no one chose crossed the rainbow bridge… She came into my life 12 years ago in a very unexpected way. A waitress I barely knew was being evicted and needed someone to take her six months old puppy. No one else helped. I said yes, thinking it would only be for a month. At first, I wasn’t very attached. I left all her things downstairs. She was so scared that she hid behind my dryer for three days. But when I finally picked her up and took her upstairs, everything changed. She relaxed in my arms and curled into my lap, like she had been waiting all her life to be loved. Like she just wanted someone to choose her. Over the next 12 years, she stayed with me as my life changed. We slept next to each other every night. Then my life grew. First, a wife. Then one son. Then another. Soon, she wasn’t just my dog, she was part of our family. We all loved her so much. My kids were always gentle with her. She had a backyard to run and play, to lie in the sun, and enjoy peaceful days. I truly believed we had at least one more summer together. Then one morning, everything changed. She got very sick with pancreatitis. We rushed her to the vet and tried everything. But deep down, I knew. Still, she kept fighting. We brought her home, and for one full day, she was herself again. She sat outside, quietly watching my kids play in the driveway. She looked calm and at peace. It was her “last good day.” The next morning, she wouldn’t eat or drink. And slowly… she began to fade. We took her back to the vet. This time, she didn’t come home. It’s been a month now. I still find myself looking for her. I still look at her spot, expecting her to be there. At night, I look at her photos. I don’t cry as much now, but it still hurts. I don’t know what happens after this life. But I hope she’s somewhere waiting. Somewhere she’s young again. Running toward me. Jumping on the bed before me like she always did. Maybe this time… we get forever. Warm days, quiet nights, and endless summers. Thank you for letting me share her story. She was here. She was loved. She had a family who truly cared for her. Rest peacefully, Luna.

It's been a surreal experience watching interviews with these NASA astronauts. They're stridently rational and unflappable, and yet, they come across as normal people who enjoy what they do and get along with their colleagues, although all of them have had to be extraordinary through an insanely competitive process to get there. So, it feels very odd right now watching the pervasive dysfunction of the U.S. government--largely being run by incompetent clowns, shameless hucksters, and nepo babies--juxtaposed with video and images of some of the most competent people you'll ever see in one of the most demanding jobs you can conceive and knowing they got there based on merit.

I’m not asking you, I’m telling you. Take a moment and listen to this 81 second response from Victor Glover after being asked if he had any thoughts leading up to Easter. I don’t quite think it can be overstated how perfect this crew is for the job.

Catherine Cullen: [Avi Lewis] does not want to nationalize grocery stores... he wants there to be publicly run grocery stores Fred DeLorey: Maybe that's a slippery slope to his eventual plan to nationalize, but even that -- having Canada Post delivering groceries, is that next on his plan?
