I get why people might have been offput by this scene but I think the whole point is that up until this moment he was treated like a liability and not really taken seriously. Gobbles saw that Kit went out of her way to help him at his lowest so he wanted to do the same

@LillianaSamson Yes, it's also why he taught Flappers the entire alphabet on the way to their next destination. His game was meant to be for young children and alot of games like that are focused on learning essentials like spelling etc

@galaxywing_ Isnt he a kids show/game character though where lessons are taught in an obvious way to kids

@ForestKing29306 Yeah the pacing is definitely one of my main criticisms of the pilot so far. There were alot of moments where I feel like they could've slowed down quite a bit. I enjoyed the pilot but I feel like they didnt give us enough time to really endear ourselves to the cast

@galaxywing_ The problem for me is that this pilot doesn’t do a good job with setup and payoff, things just kinda happen

@OverClockLasor Like compared to everything else that happens the monologue was pretty brief and to the point and didnt overstay its welcome imo

@OverClockLasor Yeah like it's why I kinda felt like most of the reactions to this were probably from people who didn't sit down and watch the pilot in its entirety; I've watched the whole episode and there are moments where they foreshadow that Gobbles has potential to be really helpful

People calling Gobbles monologue "therapy-speech" is so odd to me because to me it just reads as someone learning by example and returning the favor. She saved him and his way of reciprocating that is just being there for her

like i understand the whole "this is a season finale speech" because, yeah it kind of reads like one, but I think this was meant to establish that the learning part of being a "learnosaurus" is a literal aspect of his character, so it made sense he had a huge turnaround

On a positive note I bought the art book for this film awhile back and its literally one of my favorite things. There was so much love put into the designs and the characters and I really hope this film inspires more "early 2000s" nostalgia in media
