Belgium’s MEP Marc Botenga exposes Europe’s hypocrisy:
“You sanction Russia, which attacks Ukraine — but you support the United States when it bombs Iran.
You condemn Russia, which occupies Ukraine — but you support Israel occupying Palestine and Lebanon.
We blame our opponents for what we allow our allies to do — cheerfully — while smiling at Tel Aviv and Washington.
The double standard of this Europe is not only a shame — it creates a world of chaos and wars, a world in which we do not want to live, and in which we do not want our children to grow up.
Today, this Europe is not a force for good, but an accomplice to crime.
That’s enough.”

Jimmy Carr nails brutal parenting truth in 25 seconds:
"I want to be kind to my kids... but what they want is McDonald's, ice cream, TV, video games.
Downstream? Fat, stupid kids.
Who wants fat, stupid kids? No one.
So you have to be kind to their potential — not their immediate wants.
That means broccoli, homework, walks, exercise.
Boring now.
Kind later."
Short-term pleasure vs. long-term character.
The hardest "no" is often the deepest love.
Where do you draw the line between being "fun" and being truly kind to your kids' future selves?

Jimmy Carr shared a brutally honest take on life without kids that will hit hard for anyone who's ever weighed the choice:
“Not having kids was like living life with a cheat code on the video game. Super easy. Low stakes. No real skin in the game.”
He continues:
Once you have children, your heart literally lives outside your body.
You worry about mortality differently — because now dying means saying goodbye to them.
Suddenly you're not playing on easy mode anymore. You're at the high-stakes table.
And his final word? “It’s very joyful.”
In 54 seconds he captures something profound:
The deepest fulfillment often comes from the highest risk — the one where you have everything to lose.
Parents: Does this perfectly describe the shift you felt?
Child-free: Does it change how you see the trade-off?

Nothing works.
A parent asked me: "What's the single best thing I can do for my son? He's 13, he plays football, and I want to help him."
I said: "Do nothing."
She looked puzzled.
"When I say DO NOTHING — I mean stop making his breakfast. Stop cleaning his boots. Stop packing his bag for training. Stop spending money on sports drinks and protein bars that don't work.
Teach him to cook his own breakfast. Show him how to use a washing machine. Stick a checklist on his wall of everything he needs in his bag.
Stop doing the things he can — and should — be doing for himself.
The only thing you really need to give him is the most powerful thing of all: UNCONDITIONAL LOVE."
What's the best "nothing" you can do for your sporting child today?

Fantastic interaction & discussion this week on @louthgaa Award 1 Coaching course. 28 eager participants looked at Tactical Prowess, debating attacking & defensive principles, then planned activities to develop Team Play, presenting their work to the other coaches for critique.

Many parents need to understand that kids should spend much more time outdoors with their imaginations, friends & physical movement than with Instagram, TikTok & Snapchat to develop the athletic skills that will take them to the next level.

@PlayerGaelic Maybe just mute for January and come back when the dust settles.
