With Easter on the horizon, most of us are looking forward to a long weekend and a few sweet treats. Betting companies, however, are working overtime coming up with new ways Easter can be shoehorned into slot games. “Easter eggspedition”, “Lucky Easter” “, Magic Eggs” - these sound more like children's games than gambling. The infantilisation of these games makes them feel fun and innocent, but statistically those playing them are likely to be experiencing gambling harm. 86% of online gambling profits come from just 5% of customers, and 45% of online slots gamblers are either problem or at-risk gamblers. They can call games “Lucky Easter”, but the outcome is the same. Profits driven largely by those losing more than they can afford.

@bearinrecovery @GamRegGB @Meta @fionatwycross It is deeply concerning that ads promoting ‘non-Gamstop’ casinos are appearing on platforms like Instagram. These illegal sites openly target people trying to bypass safeguards, yet the ads continue to be approved. Do better @Meta

So…. Instagram accepting adverts (and being paid to do so) that knowingly advertise illegal casinos in the uk, deliberately targeting addicted gamblers with the ‘non gamstop’ tag. Multiple breaches of the law. Any action to follow? @GamRegGB @Meta @gambanapp @fionatwycross

The number of women seeking treatment for gambling addiction has more than doubled in recent years and 40% of women experiencing high levels of gambling harm may not seek out help due to stigma or shame. Addiction doesn't discriminate.
