@andyhowellsport @IrishRugby @SixNationsRugby We’re not powerful enough to come away with 7 pointers often enough by going for the corners. Better to go for the 3 and build a score. It would have been a lot tighter if they did.

Wales doing well @IrishRugby @SixNationsRugby but should have taken those couple of penalties and the points. Be leading at HT if they had. Fair play, definitely signs of further improvement

Why is it ok for Wales to play in white against Ireland tonight ….? There’s absolutely no reason for it! Wales should be in red unless an obvious clash. #6Nations2026

@Richard99366022 @PhilRugby Yes, all the centralised systems are slightly different. Interesting in England with their independent teams going to a franchise model. That will come with a degree of centralised conditions.

@PhilRugby @garethmapp Centralised is Aus in 99 and NZ in 11 and 15. Even then none are quite the same "centralised system" as Ireland that some people and the WRU are pushing for.

@YouGov Interesting how the two counties at the top of the list were the last two remaining areas of England to speak Brythonic languages. Cornish in Cornwall and Cumbric in Cumbria. Cultural memory?

@haveigotnews Welsh is descended from the original language of Britain. Historically important to these islands. It’s the language of the land of Britain. Still clearly visible in a lot of place names across England and Scotland.

Nigel Farage says he'll scrap targets to get more people speaking Welsh if Reform win the elections there, so 'if they come here they should learn the language' doesn't apply everywhere then

@DjmComments @leclare_6 If a new pathway isn’t invested in properly Welsh rugby will have a slow lingering death. It needs about £5m per year to be in a par with other nations. It’s the only way forward.

@leclare_6 The finances are not sorted. £50m debt has been consolidated under better terms. Annual expenditure has still to be agreed within Pro rugby and Performance Rugby - national mens and women's XV, regions, pathway, academies, and centres of excellence. And how that's paid for.

@BBCScrumV Disagree with her on this. A consensus of change has been achieved through an open consultation process. Everyone agreed that Welsh rugby needs to change and implement a world class pathway. To achieve this, options were given and reducing to 3 teams was selected by the board.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has “lost the argument” over the future of the professional game, says a group of politicians ❌ Delyth Jewell MS has written to WRU chair Richard Collier-Keywood after he appeared before the Welsh Government’s sport and culture committee last week 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 #bbcrugby

@ArchDigest The Latin Londinium was based on the Celtic (Brythonic) ‘Lyn du’ meaning ‘Black or Dark water’. The exact same meaning of Dublin. London and Dublin share the same original Celtic meaning in their names.

@TorstenBell @SquidgeRugby The only thing the WRU want to do is cut a team. They’d never do something like invest £28m into the pathway over the next five years - creating 12 player development centres, two centres of excellence and a national academy.

The spotlight isn't going anywhere 👇 For weeks, supporters, players and communities have been asking the WRU to think again. It's clear the only way to change course is to now change leadership. To all clubs: attend the EGM and vote to end this chaos. itv.com/news/wales/202…

@maybethiseason @MikeFromNeath1 @DjmComments @andyhowellsport It was set up mid 2000’s, Mostyn Richards who secured objective 1 funding. Excellent podcast on it by Wales Online.(4/12/24) Trystan Bevan interviewed about it. Another podcast with Trystan Bevan 3/12/25) also talks about it. It was all about elite performance.

@MikeFromNeath1 @DjmComments @andyhowellsport @maybethiseason It only worked when there was a centralised national academy churning out elite players for the regions. This was closed by request of the regions. Makes no sense as it meant quadrupling costs. Pathway has to be the priority, the WRU has a plan for that.

On Anglo-Welsh, we had it with @Cardiff_Rugby slaughtering @gloucesterrugby at Twickenham in 2009 @ospreys beating @LeicesterTigers prev year. Welsh teams pulled out in 2018 with @WelshRugbyUnion fools saying it was setting up u23 comp? What happened to that?

@DjmComments @andyhowellsport @maybethiseason The union throwing money at the regions be it 3 or 4 teams won’t work. They’ll end up blowing the money on foreign players like now. 30 odd NWQ’s across 4 teams is insane and doing Welsh rugby no good. Players and coaches need to be centrally controlled.

@maybethiseason @andyhowellsport The regions pretty much are. The move to franchises makes most sense given it’s what the other small unions do - contract the players/coaches, let the pro club run the operation and commercials.
