@GroupOfFiveGuys Guy sitting at the bar last night was talking about how big of a Georgia fan he is and ask me who my team was. I tell him @TroyTrojansFB and he laughs and goes into the typical low intelligence reasoning why I shouldn’t be. I let him rant and then I asked him where he went to school? no shocker here he says @GSAthletics_FB ! So I simply said what I always say…Rooting for Georgia when you went to Georgia Southern is like rooting for another guy in a bar to get the hot girl. You might do that but I’m not EVER doing that…I’m rooting for me because I want the hot girl! Then I put my arm around my hot fiancé and just looked at him. He had nothing else to say. 🤣 Go Trojans!!

Sunbelt East Scenarios with 3 weeks left Georgia Southern is still in the driver's seat, and this race has become a little more clear. Ideal path: finish 3-0. Simple way in. Many paths to 2-1 but a lot has to go right. Winning at Marshall is extremely helpful, but it appears to be the one loss left we can afford, and still mostly control our own destiny (assuming JMU beats coastal) but winning at Marshall opens the door for losing at app but still Making it in if every remaining game of interest shapes out how I documented below. Additionally, losing at home to ODU would be rough, but if they lose to groupon we can still hold a 1 game lead going 2-0 on the road vs app and Marshall (tall task) Regardless, Marshall being an eliminated team would sting to lose to, we really need to get this win and simplify things. I do not see a path at 1-2. Either App or ODU gets us on a tiebreaker in either scenario even if everything else goes right. Importance of wins 1. ODU 2. Crappy 3. Marshall Threats in order 1. Coastal (a realized 4th win already, and we can't beat them again) 2. ODU 3. App (can still expect a JMU loss) 4. Groupon (realized 3rd loss plus tiebreaker) The good news - our top 2 threats still have to play JMU. Assuming they lose to JMU, then ODU and App remain the top threats. Ideal scenarios This weekend: - Coastal lose to Tx State - App lose to Groupon Next week: - crappy lose to JMU Final week: - coastal lose to JMU - Groupon vs ODU too far to call, most likely ODU winning is better after we beat ODU at home otherwise we have to have Groupon beat ODU and they could actually troll us by throwing the game out of spite

November Sunbelt East Race (From a Georgia Southern perspective) - a new weekly data dump from your favorite computer scientist / wannabe influencer.  This will get progressively simpler each week, it might be a little rough to follow this week.  TLDR - I think GS is more likely than not to play an extra game in December (won't call it a championship game because JMU would likely go if the NCAA wasn't stupid) Let's Get After that analysis! GS is 3-1 (loss to JMU) Already Beat - Groupon State, Coastal Carolina. They are both 3-2 in conference, and to hurdle GS they must win 2 more games than GS. Remaining - TX State, Marshall 1-3, ODU 3-2, Crappy 2-2 Scenarios and my personal rough probabilities of each possible November GS W/L record based on remaining opponents Simple path- go 4-0 and there's an extra game to be played December (I got us around 25% of 4-0) But what if.... GS 3-1: safe from all but ODU or App if either win every remaining game including us. (Roughly 35% chance at 3-1) GS 2-2: Coastal + Groupon + Marshall could hurdle us if any of them win out. ODU or App get 1 loss not against us and can still hurdle. (Roughly 20% chance at 2-2) GS 1-3: simple answer is not a championship team. (Roughly 15%) GS 0-4 5% chance, rush me to the hospital  Teams that haven't lost to JMU yet: Groupon, Coastal, Crappy Games where threats will take each other out This weekend - Marshall vs crappy (root for Marshall) - ODU vs coastal (root for coastal) Next weekend - crappy vs Groupon (root for a meteor, then reluctantly groupon, unless they beat JMU then goo crappy) Hate weekend (weekend after Thanksgiving) - Groupon vs ODU My power rankings of opponents likelihood of winning out from most likely to least likely : 1. Marshall oddly enough (already lost to JMU, has to deal with us and crappy) 2. ODU (also already lost to JMU, has to deal with coastal, Groupon, and the power of paulson) 3. Coastal (JMU, ODU, TX State) 4. Groupon (jmu, crappy, ODU) 5. Crappy (JMU, Marshall, Groupon, us) Order of importance for GS to win as of Oct31: 1. ODU 2. Crappy 3. Marshall 4. Tx state
