Don't lie about al-Imam al-Shafi'i.
2 years ago, I analyzed every chain of his alleged praise for Muqatil that I could find and not a single one was authentic.
I found 9 chains for it: 2 in Tarikh Baghdad, 2 in Manaqib al-Shafi'i (by al-Bayhaqi), and 2 in Tarikh Dimashq.

Is it just coincidence that so many High Christology supporting scholars are Christian clergy or priests or devout believers in Christianity? This includes Larry Hurtado, James Dunn, Bauckham (Anglican theologian), NT Wright, and the author cited below (Catholic priest).
Christians have just stacked the deck of biblical and New Testament studies with their own theologians who publish findings that just happen to agree with their credal beliefs.

The early Aramaic-speaking church did not think Jesus WAS the Father (Jesus' own use of 'Abba' made absolute identification impossible). YET, they practiced Gleichsetzung, which means they placed the crucified and risen Jesus on an absolute par with Yahweh. And where did this happen? Not decades later in pagan Greece, but right in first-century Palestine among the earliest eyewitnesses, including James and Peter. Also, Maranatha is the literal language print of that explosive event.
