I have been strictly a DevOps consultant for 5+ years. I have some lessons I learned the hard way. I'll share 6 of them with you🧵 Spoiler Alert: I think technology is often the easy part.

Quick question : You have 50 microservices, each with its own API. The frontend team is losing their mind. To render a single page, they make 10+ network calls. The app is sluggish. Users are complaining. How do you fix this ?

@AvgDatabaseCEO Section 174 of the tax code? You're going to pay a lot more for the Euro engineer.

CEO perspective on H1B I can hire an excellent euro engineer for $100k remotely. Why would I spend $100k to bring one here?

@unclebobmartin 1: "Please tell me if there are logic errors or bugs in function X. Don't fix them. " 2: "Okay, now before we fix the bugs, write a test to replicate the issue."

It makes no sense to point an AI at a function and ask it to write a test for that function. The AI, if it’s any good, will write a passing test for that function. it will not detect any bugs in that function. In fact, it will codify any bugs as part of the test.

🚨STRATEGY ANNOUNCES $STRC (STRETCH)🚨 You're about to understand a financial engineering move so insane, it makes traditional equity look like Monopoly money.👇

@bald_research @WatcherGuru If you want prices to fall, you need deflation (negative inflation). 0% inflation means prices would stay exactly the same.

@ChaseYoDream247 @EricLDaugh In Central Florida, by Disney, they are usually just a cloudy day with lots of wind. Most damage is just broken branches and lots of leaves.

Lifting weights is painfully boring and monotonous. I’ve been doing it on and off since I was 14 years old, but I despise it lately. The sport I like the most is MMA, which I stopped doing because of the head kicks/punches. I may YOLO and start it again since I enjoy it the most

Love the EightSleep. I hate that it’s on WiFi all the time and that I have to open my phone to adjust it at night. My phone is kept downstairs. It doesn’t work for me. What is the answer? Different competitor?

It's interesting to see people who are not engineers praise Elon Musk's management of Twitter. I wonder what's actually going to happen 🍿

Lastly, GitHub valet, now GitHub Actions Importer, is really good. As it continues to improve, it'll make translating Azure DevOps pipelines to GitHub Workflows really easy and reduce the heart burn to many orgs that don't want to spend too much time on a migration.

Projects looks so flexible. I'm curious how powerful it is compared to Azure Boards, which is also very flexible. If it turns out to be approachable to the extent that some project managers need it, then it's less of an excuse to use Azure DevOps and GitHub together.

I'm excited about the new announcements at GitHub Universe. IMO we finally have more clarity on Azure DevOps vs. GitHub conversation. It's becoming less of apples vs. apples comparison and more of apples and oranges. 🍊
