Remember the government wastefully spending €336k on a bike shed? Well they are wasting the equivalent of 14 bike sheds every single day housing economic migrants. That's 5,000 bike sheds each year, and we don't even get any bike sheds. Just madness. x.com/Nick_Delehanty…

This morning we’re launching @soontechnology with our first weekly documentary. Today’s follows @RainmakerCorp on an early morning cloud seeding mission and learns more about their team of earnest young men. I want to tell you about our mission at Soon by explaining how this company came to be. My career in technology gave me everything. My friends, the rich adventures I’ve been on, my lifestyle, and my ability to help people and causes I love. For a nerdy kid who came from humble beginnings, it doesn’t get better than this. I want this for other such kids too! And I believe technology is broadly beneficial for the world too. Everything we call civilized comes from technology of one form or another. From the keyboard I’m typing on right, to the chair I’m sitting on. I do think we all benefit from more technology. Over the years I’ve had to tell my story of how I came to find myself in tech and why I have this viewpoint. And I always point back to the media I consumed as a kid. There were shows that made it to Ireland in the early 90s that told wide eyed stories about the future. They were optimistic! The people in them were sincerely excited. I’m thinking specifically of Tomorrow’s World and Beyond 2000. They’d find the one weird guy trying to build a flying car and explore the implications that an invention like that might have for the world. It set my imagination on fire! When asked, I’d say I wanted to be an inventor when I grew up! But that media went away, replaced with pessimistic, deeply negative media. Some sort of pendulum apparently swung and we got a good decade of media created by people who clearly disliked tech. This was not good for the nerdy kids of the world wondering what they may want to be when they grew up. Nor was it good for the world which wanted more tech. About 5 years ago I started to imagine that surely there would be room again for optimistic tech media. That notion sounds pretty obvious now. But it was sufficiently wild back then that I couldn’t convince myself there was even a market for it. But eventually I got the courage to start to take it seriously. Around then so too did multiple others, each with their own take. @tbpn brought energy and humor to tech business news with live video. @arenamagdotcom brought us beautiful print media to tell stories of American dynamism. @PirateWires brought us strong and sharp writing about technology and politics. And there are many, many more. Soon is our contribution. Entertaining, fun, video media for the masses of youth around the world curious about tech! To show them what we do and provide them relatable role models to follow and shape themselves after. As I started to take the idea more seriously, I went looking for a CEO 18 months ago. And I spoke with a lot of great people. But one stood out. @patrickmcguire is so fantastically weird in that he’s a very real media veteran but someone I found to be honestly curious about tech. It has been incredible to watch him build an incredible and very special, insanely team and to see what they’ve been able to do together. Because I’m not the guy actually making the content I can say with a little bit of distance that I think this is going to be big! And I think it’s important that it is. So I will sincerely appreciate it if you could help us get this out to the world by commenting on the content and sharing and sending it to your favorite nerdy kids too!

@levelsio I don't think they need to acquire anything, just to build their own with smaller surface area and tighter security

Best thing Anthropic could do now is acquire Clawdbot (or now Moltbot, an absolutely terrible name btw, should be Lobsterbot or smth) and built it into Claude I think

The dilemma: the more access these agents have to your data, the more useful they become, but the bigger the risk. For my Claudbot setup, I gave it fresh sandboxed accounts (Gmail, iMessage, Reddit, Twitter, GitHub). Zero access to my real stuff. Whoever cracks this trust problem unlocks the real opportunity. Probably Anthropic?

Here's how I'd use it: "Plan a family holiday in Europe, July. Somewhere like Lake Garda but different. Warm, good swimming, no car rental needed. Find 10 options, price everything including hotels and flights. Store findings in my Obsidian vault. Check hourly for new deals, notify me of anything significant."

Been playing with @openclaw (previously Clawdbot) this weekend. It's clunky. There are real security issues. But it's the clearest preview I've seen yet of what we'll have by end of year: a personal agent that takes high-level tasks and runs with them autonomously
