Wifi passwords should disappear everywhere (hotels, homes, airports, restaurants/coffee shops). We probably waste over 100m person hours a year collectively typing in wifi passwords. Your phone should just auto-connect wherever you are, like cell towers. And no, none of those dumb captive portals either (ads) - businesses should be shamed for using these. Hotels don't charge you for electricity when you charge your phone - it's too cheap the meter. Wifi is now the same. Stop treating wifi like some scarce resource that needs to be rationed. If people are treating your coffee shop like an office, and not buying anything, there must be some other solution.
Ryan Petersen@typesfast

Shooting my shot cold texting the CEO of Starbucks (never met him) to convince him to remove the password on the WiFi in their stores. If this works I’m gonna run for President.

@brian_armstrong what ever happened to the idea of hackers easily intercepting our data on unsecured public networks to steal login credentials, financial information, and personal details??? feel like we are asking for trouble if we do no password

@brian_armstrong Thank you! My retarded city forces tourists to enter their email in order to use free wifi in the city center. Imagine that.

@brian_armstrong This is what Passpoint and OpenRoaming are designed to solve for, they're just way too difficult to deploy and are reserved for giant public WiFi networks.

@brian_armstrong It’s 2025 and we have 5g unlimited data, why are people still worried about connecting to WiFi when they’re out and about? Also, don’t connect to public networks.

@brian_armstrong Are you on Crack... I would never want my device to "auto connect" to any random wifi.. wifi is nowhere near as secure or regulated as cell networks.

Behind Kevin Sinfield’s incredible #7in7 challenge this week, was an amazing team and he'd be the first to tell you he wouldn't have raised nearly £2.5m without them. The Association would like to thank them all for their efforts and phenomenal support. A thread 👇
