The war on Zionism is necessarily a war on history. How could it be otherwise? Zionism was the only Jewish movement that correctly predicted anything close to what was to come, the only one that prepared for it, and so the only one that actually saved Jews in the 20th century outside the English speaking world. The death toll from the horrendous Bondi Beach massacre continues to rise. Latest count is an appalling 16 dead. For those who’ve been marching these past few years demanding to ‘globalise the intifada’ this is a barbarous anti-Semitic consequence of their pro-Islamist stupidity. Western intelligence services wondering if this is a terrible one-off atrocity. Or a harbinger of worse to come in other countries over the festive season.

Last March I gave a lecture at Sydney University on anti-semitism and spent time with a deeply worried community. Two synagogues in Melbourne had been firebombed; children arriving at their Jewish school in Sydney saw its walls covered in swastikas. I tried to reassure the people I spoke to that there was a future for Jews in Australia but they were right, even then, to be distressed. Globalise the intifada just means kill Jews wherever and whenever you can. So I don't want to hear anyone telling me the weekly hate marches are just anti-Zionist, not murderous race hatred against Jews.
