A project to replace conventional streetlights with energy-efficient LED streetlights and implement power-saving measures is being carried out across the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits. The works are being executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with government approval. In this regard, the existing streetlight maintenance contracts in all wards under Bengaluru North City Corporation limits (except Ward Nos. 34, 35, and 36 of Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly Constituency) have been cancelled with effect from 30-04-2026, and responsibility has been assigned to new maintenance agencies. The agencies that installed the energy-efficient LED streetlights will also carry out maintenance works. 🚶‍♂️📍 Building a Comprehensive Street Database of Bengaluru The Street Profiling Survey for Central Bengaluru, undertaken by BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning in collaboration with the Greater Bengaluru Authority, concluded with an Exhibition & Stakeholder Interaction on 30 April 2026. Between 2nd–16th March, 55 students carried out extensive field surveys across arterial and sub-arterial roads in Central Bengaluru after undergoing training by Sensing Local. 🏙️📍 Comprehensive Street Database for Bengaluru Central City Corporation Exhibition & Stakeholder Interaction On 30 April 2026, the finale of the Street Profiling Survey for Central Bengaluru was hosted at BMS College of Architecture, Design and Planning — bringing together students, faculty, urban practitioners, and key stakeholders to celebrate a remarkable collaborative effort in documenting the city’s streets. Over a span of 15–20 days, 55 students undertook extensive field surveys across Central Bengaluru, building a detailed street database through rigorous on-ground documentation and data collection. The programme was graced by representatives from Greater Bengaluru Authority urban planning and design cell Smt. Hemalatha K and Deepa Managooli; Ms. Veena and Mr. Balaji from the BCCC Urban Design Cell; Arnav Murulidhar, Varsha Nair, Sowmya Muruganantham and Gagana G from WRI India; along with Sobia Rafiq, Ankit Bhargava, Ar. Narasimha M S and Atharva Dandagawhal from Sensing Local. Smt.
