Fuel prices in Kenya have now evolved from an economic concern into a full-blown social crisis. Every increase in petrol and diesel prices immediately cascades across the economy ; transport fares rise, food becomes more expensive, electricity costs surge, and small businesses are pushed closer to collapse. The heaviest burden is not carried by corporations or policymakers, but by ordinary Kenyans whose salaries remain stagnant while the cost of survival keeps escalating. We cannot normalize a system where basic mobility, energy, and food security are becoming luxuries. This is no longer just about global oil prices; it is about taxation, currency management, energy policy, and the broader economic structure that continues transferring the weight of fiscal failures onto struggling households.

Fellow Kenyans, just imagine William Ruto being Kenya's president, the country will burn. He is arrogant, abusive, coercive, and grabber.

@MkenyaMzi Ombachi, Bien, na Kipchoge are like confetti 🎊🎊🎊🎊 when they graced that "Africa Backward" French event. Once they float beautifully in the air for a few seconds, they fall aimlessly on the floor and are swept into the trash can as garbage.

“They didn't call you because they value your African voice. They called you because nothing makes an exploitation party look innocent like a talented African bald man with a guitar and a big smile. You were the decoration. The proof that everything was fine. The vibe.” Dismas

Wrong. The Kenya Land and Freedom Army was an ethnocentric, exclusively Kikuyu political movement formed in 1960 that fizzled out in 1962 (way after Kimathi’s execution). Its sensationalisation in recent Kenyan historical revisionism is something I observe with troubled concern.

It is not just trying to rebrand itself. France is actively in search of new colonies. This is not speculation or Pan-Africanist conspiracy theory. Two years ago, Macron presented a plan to his own parliament explicitly identifying anglophone and lusophone African countries as France’s new strategic frontier, the next territory to be brought into the orbit of French influence now that francophone Africa has had the dignity to show it the door. The methodology might be different because we are not 1946. The vocabulary will be partnership, investment, security cooperation, cultural exchange. But the result will be identical because the logic has never changed. So to our “anglophone and lusophone” brothers and sisters across the continent, congratulations on your new status as France’s next strategic frontier. That status earned our countries labelled as “francophone” 7 places out of the top 10 poorest countries in Africa. It really pays to speak fluent “comment allez vous?”.

France has lost a lot of its relevance and influence in West Africa in recent years. Now it's trying to rebrand itself during a summit with African heads of states in Kenya. Al Jazeera’s Marthe van der Wolf @marthevdwolf explains.

Why do people resort to abuses when someone disagrees with them? We pay taxes to our government to provide services to the public. The health system is in ruins, education system is on the brink of collapse. No proper investments in agriculture. No manufacturing. Hakuna kazi.
